Time for a new FreeRepublic folding@home thread.
Our FreeRepublic team of 342 members comprised primarily of Free Republic members in good standing have banded together to donate their excess CPU cycles to a worthy cause. Via distributed computing, millions of computers around the world, contribute directly to scientific research, in the quest for a greater understanding of diseases such as Alzheimer's, Cancer, and Mad Cow (BSE).
Currently, the team is in 99th place (with 985 active CPUs - 39,500 completed Work Units and nearly 7 million points).
This is an entirely voluntary program, and if you want to learn more, please see the links posted below (or read one of the previous 18 folding threads)

Your Geekness,
LOL, I just knew you were up to something here !!!! That is just too cool ! Once we all compile some data, it'll be fun to watch.
In conjunction with your new widget, I would find it interesting to have a column that listed type of proc, and speed. I don't know if everyone would be willing to upload this kind of info, but I sure would. It would be kind of neat to compare Intel vs AMD, GHz vs GHz, single vs dual core, etc... Maybe even amount of RAM. Some claim more helps, some say it doesn't matter. This info may help FReepers with purchasing decisions when it comes time to upgrade, and because you're controlling the access, outsiders couldn't see it.

I added another CPU (my father's) this afternoon. I said, "Dad, how would like to help contribute to finding out why proteins fold the way they do, to possibly finding a cure for Alzheimer's disease?" he said, "Sure. That's a noble goal. Now, what was I going to ask you? I was just thinking about it, and now the thought's gone." I replied, "See, dad. That's exactly why we have to get your computer folding protein."
It was an easy sell.

It would be kind of neat to compare Intel vs AMD, GHz vs GHz, single vs dual core, etc... Maybe even amount of RAM. That might be a possibility. I could pretty easily add in a couple of fields in the server table, and give instructions on how to add the information into the script.
Keep in mind the inherent inaccuracies in the calculations, though. I'm not sure I'd put too much weight in comparisons that came out very close.
...and because you're controlling the access, outsiders couldn't see it.
Well, right now it's only "security through obscurity".

Well, right now it's only "security through obscurity".I tend to trust that you would keep our FReeper corner "isolated", no matter how far you carry this hobby (stats). Then again, we aren't posting account and SSN numbers either.

Another FAHMonitor update:
Awhile back, I wrote a script to parse point values from the project summary page. There are a handful of projects that aren't listed on that page, though, and they currently show on the FAHMonitor as ??.
I've added the ability to add in supplemental projects during that script run, but I'm missing information on the following projects:
- p1152_L939_K12M_ext_from638
- p1163_p1136_p1130_L939_K12M_355K - (I think it's 241 points, but I'm not sure)
- p1808_Collagen_Brodsky_r - (I think it's 153 points)
- p1809_Collagen_POG10new_ - (I think it's 153 points)
- p2106_lambda_5way_melt_4_10011 - (I think it's 202 points)
- p2107_lambda_5way_melt_4_10011 - (I think it's 404 points)
- p2409_Ribo_lysine_sidechain
Let me know of any more that you come across!
Thanks!

I've been out of touch since May 27. One machine down but it's back online now! I got back home to find that my girlfriend has run off with her boss.
Just checked Egon's monitor though and she's still folding and doesn't even know it! HA!

#91 today, #90 sometime on Monday
Status update, work finally begins on AC middle of next week.
It's a long hot, non-folding summer.
Observations, at current folding rates, there are only 26 teams that are ahead of us in daily points, and NOBODY below us in the top 2000 is catching up. The radar screen is clear, we just need to concentrate on plowing ahead.
One more month before I can begin folding my ass off again, my goals, top #100 of all folders, 2 million points, and beating the dummies to 3 million.
Anyone have any links to a DU folding thread? They're fun to read, and imagine them gnashing their teeth. They're going flat, hanging steady about 12,000 ppd, and they're down to 95 active users, and dropping. DU Motto, Life is good, until you awaken the freeper dragon.
