If it wasn't enough worrying about all the baby anti-Christs being born today, now there is religious group claiming that a nuclear attack could be launched on New York before the weekend.

"The Lords’ Witnesses in all seriousness therefore beg everyone in NYC of any religious or anti religious persuasion whatsoever, who has faith that God can predict the future, to leave NYC before the second weekend in June and, if interested, to read all about our great Biblical understandings from some other place! And more to the point, at some time after that weekend," a press release from The Lord's Witnesses reads.

The Lord's Witnesses press release is headlined: "Bible Scholars Predict an 85 Percent Probability of a Nuclear Terrorist Attack on the UN Complex in Manhattan on June 9 or 10."

everyone in NYC of any religious or anti religious persuasion whatsoever

That’s narrowing it down a bit.

They didn't mention any lottery numbers, did they?

Really, there's a long history of religious groups predicting specific dates for various apocalypsii. I'm betting that the only thing that blows up this weekend is this story in their face.

Nostradamus - The New City

Century 1, Quatrain 24
The new city contemplating a condemnation,
The bird of prey offers itself to the heavens.
After victory pardon to the captives,
Cremona and Mantua will have suffered great evils.

Century 1, Quatrain 87
Earth-shaking fire from the center of the earth.
Will cause the towers around the New City to shake,
Two great rocks for a long time will make war,
And then Arethusa will color a new river red.

Century 6, Quatrain 97
At forty-five degrees, the sky will burn,
Fire approaches the great new city,
Immediately a huge, scattered flame leaps up
When they want to have verification from the Normans.

Century 9, Quatrain 92
The king will want to enter the new city,
Through its enemies they will come to subdue it
Captives liberated to speak and act falsely,
King to be outside, he will keep far from the enemy.

Century 10, Quatrain 49
Garden of the world near the new city,
In the path of the hollow mountains,
It will be seized and plunged into the Vat,
Drinking by force the waters poisoned by sulfur.

I doubt this has much credit to it, but one thing for certain

Had someone predicted 2 airplanes were going to fly into the world trade center 2 days before 9/1/1 they would have been laughed and ridiculed off of FR.

"I'm betting that the only thing that blows up this weekend is this story in their face."

They'll just say their calculations were wrong, or whatever, and go on their merry way. There's no convincing whacko's like this otherwise.

Assuming the bad guys did set off a nuke at ground level. Does anyone know what the expected tonnage might be? Ten Kilotons? 20 Megatons?

A comparison could be made of that information with the expected damage chart on this post.

Scholars Predict an 85 Percent Probability of a Nuclear Terrorist Attack on the UN Complex in Manhattan on June 9 or 10

Followed by announcing that "well, we obviously got lucky."

Do these biblical scholars understand the biblical penalty for false prophecy?

Crude, compact U-235 gun would yield ~~ 10-30 ktons.

Fission triggered fusion which results in more fission due to a surrounding jacket is pretty much unlimited in yield and can be made quite small.

I've seen set-ups smaller than a washing machine that yield 250 ktons.

>>>now there is religious group claiming that a nuclear attack could be launched on New York before the weekend.

Oh how convenient!

Sorry, but I smell a rat. NYC is very upset about losing their Homeland Defense money. And they should be. They needed that money to cover the fact that they LOOTED the memorial fund.

From post:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1637207/posts?page=19#19

>>>The public has heard plenty about the "empty pit of Ground Zero," but most do not know that the $2.8 billion allocated to Lower Manhattan in cash grants has virtually all been spent. It is difficult to trace where all the money went while being routed through the Department of Housing and Urban Development and six different city and state entities. Now, after four-and-a-half years of press conferences, ribbon-cuttings and groundbreakings (the Freedom Tower has had two), at which the lost 343 firefighters were invoked and the memorial and museum was touted as the "centerpiece" around which hundreds of millions of dollars in spending projects would turn, Gov. Pataki and Mayor Michael Bloomberg have teamed up to tell the public that it's time to "rethink" the project where the history of those valiant firefighters will be secured. Not only does this undermine Daniel Libeskind's master plan, which always included a museum of "memory and hope," it also manifests a standard of fiscal responsibility that the governor and the mayor have refrained from imposing anywhere else at Ground Zero. <<<<

That's pretty good comprehension you have there then. I didn't think it made that much sense.

If their prediction accurate, the feds should look a little more closely at that group. What do you think would be happening if a MUSLIM group predicted that a nuclear device would go off this weekend?
