I was reading the Left Angeles Times Business section (pg C3) today. VP Gore's movies over three days had 1.3 million dollars generating a total of 1.9 million. This is compared to 38.1 for the break-up, 175 million for X-men, 112 for Over the Hedge and 172 for the Da Vinci Code.
I was thinking this movie with all it hype didn't generate a years salary for Gore.
Too Bad for him and the media but good for the American people - they can still spot a fraud when they see one.
Ice Age III: An Inconvenient Truth........
An Inconvenient Truth may not be getting many headlines when the weekend ends, but Al Gore's documentary on global warming had a fantastic opening. The movie earned over $120,000 on Wednesday and Thursday, and another $280,000 or thereabouts over the three day weekend, all from four theaters. That gives it a per theater average of $70,585, based on current estimates, easily the highest score of 2006, and comfortably in the all-time top 50. Mr. Gore can't seem to catch a break though... all the talk on Tuesday will about the movie that landed at number two in the Per Theater chart - X-Men grabbed a very respectable $28,000 per theater. On the other hand, when it comes to legs, An Inconvenient Truth will likely be one of the stand-out movies of the Summer.
Didn't it have a very limited release? Something like 3 theatres if I recall correctly.
See #3......
Algore is still delusional. He still thinks Love Story was written about him and Tippy. He still thinks he won the White House in 2000. He still thinks people actually care what he thinks.
===============================================
$17k per theater in 77 theaters over the weekend. That is nearly 2X the X-Men avg of $9k per screen. This thread is nothing but wishful thinking.

Looky here........
Also it's a documentary and has a microscopic budget. Apples and Oranges. People tried to do the same thing with Michael Moore's last film.
It's like taking some really successful one-location Mom and Pop restaurant, and saying "Look at the global sales of McDonald's! Mom and Pop are complete failures and disappointments."
You're not one for etiquette are you? You haven't even been here a month, and the THREAD is ignorant?
I'm not disputing Gore's mental state. However, trumpeting the failure of his documentary when it only opened in 4 theatres is getting a little ahead of the curve. My guess is that it will do pretty well among the green set and old Al will show a profit.
It played at 2 theaters (NYC and LA) to open, and is now in 77.
However, they went from 2 to 77 (a 3700% increase in theaters) but only increased profits from the 2 theater release by 300% or so.
Also the 75 ones they added are in big liberal cities.
Give it a little more time. Everybody's really super-stoked on the film (they just don't know it yet).
I wonder if the fumigation and cleaning bills will be sent to algore after each screening of his movie. Those hippies leave terrible filth and oily residue where ever they go.
The movie was financed in great part by Laurie David, wife of Seinfeld's Larry David.
She has money to burn (which no doubt adds to global warming.)
