Duke Lax News - Mgean Kendall (no Link)
Foxnews

Posted on 06/04/2006 12:41:52 PM PDT by Perdogg

Megan Kendall says defenses sources are saying that CGM had sex with the driver the night of the alledged rape.

She also said that the prosecuter claims to have "good news" for their case. We have heard that before.

If anyone gets additional information on this, please provide links.

Thanks

If the Duke administraton didn't personally notify parents their sons were in legal jeapordy, they might be liable. The three captains were interviewed without lawyers, not knowing they were dealing with an ambitious, unethical DA. Had their parents been told the situation, they may have prevented that.

I'm guessing that because there was a pending arrest, that unless they were read their Miranda rights, whatever they did say won't be allowed.

Does anyone know where to find the timeline? I'm looking for when the players were told that the stripper accused them of rape.

Some time between March 14 and March 23. March 23 is when the 46 lacrosse players submitted dna samples.

According to the Duke Administrative Response Report, the three players who resided at 610 N. Buchanan were told of the allegations against the team sometime on March 15.

That's what I'm looking for, but I can't find a link. Do you have one?

The report is located at Duke University News website.

http://www.dukenews.duke.edu/mmedia/features/lacrosse_incident/

Click on the link labeled Administrative response report, May 8 (PDF). I forget how the long the report is but the information you're looking for should be located in the beginning of the report.

Thanks for the help.

I was reading another site that said the players had a couple of days to clean or ditch their clothes.

I just didn't see time or reason for these guys to ditch their clothing, if they didn't even know they were accused of something.

I'm not certain of Duke's liability. The students are considered adults legally, so I don't know if the university had any responsibility to notify the parents. They were also living in off-campus housing (which Duke didn't acquire until February 2006).

I do agree their parents would have counseled them diffently if they had been informed of the incident immediately. David Evans dad is a lawyer. I don't think he would have let his son and the other two captains be interviewed for 25 hours without a lawyer present.

From the Herald Sun, as quoted in FR post from May 14:

Afterward, attorney Bill Thomas of Durham -- who represents an un-indicted lacrosse player -- said semen found in the dancer's body was "of recent origin" and had been deposited there "immediately prior to her being examined" in connection with the alleged rape.

So the burn their clothes, make the place spotless of all of their and Mangum's DNA, yet forget to empty the trash can in the room they supposedly raped Mangum?

They also ditch her purse and her shoe, but give her makeup bag, cell phone, and ID to the police.....

I don't think that is correct. What I read was that cops and investigators could take any statements you were willing to give, but if you were arrested they would have to read you your rights.

Also, in this case even the cops didn't know who the suspects were. Cops don't read the Miranda rights to everyone they question.

LOL...that was merely a discussion like we have here.

BTW, most sites I have been able to find (including CourtTv), support the players and think Nifong and the accuser should be prosecuted.

"Duke To Reinstate Lacrosse Team

POSTED: 3:41 pm EDT June 2, 2006
UPDATED: 6:55 pm EDT June 2, 2006

Email This Story | Print This Story

DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke University will officially reinstate the men's lacrosse program Monday, two months after suspending the team amid a rape investigation, sources told NBC17 Friday.

University officials will hold a press conference Monday to reinstate the lacrosse team for the 2006-07 season, sources said.

Duke spokesman John Burness denied that an announcement would be made. "Media reports to the contrary, President (Richard) Brodhead has not yet made a decision on the future of men's lacrosse at Duke," Burness said in a statement.

Brodhead canceled the remainder of the current lacrosse season for the men's team on April 5 and accepted the resignation of veteran coach Mike Pressler after details of a rape investigation became public.

A 27-year-old woman told police she was beaten and raped by three lacrosse players at a March 13 team party in an off-campus house, where she was performing as an exotic dancer.

Three players -- two rising juniors and a recent graduate -- were later indicted on rape and kidnapping charges in the case. All players have denied any wrongdoing.

During a police search of a lacrosse player's dorm room in March, investigators came across an e-mail in which a player threatened to kill and mutilate strippers.

Brodhead called the e-mail "sickening and repulsive" and immediately canceled the season for the Blue Devils, who were ranked No. 2 nationally at the time. He had suspended the team a week earlier until the police investigation was completed.

One of five committees Brodhead established to study the university's response to the rape case recommended last month that the team be allowed to play next season. But the committee said a history of problems with the team, mostly tied to alcohol, required monitoring by university officials."

LOS ANGELES — By now, I think I may be the only "expert" commentator who has not given up completely on the prosecution in the Duke rape case.

if the Lax team had cahones, they would indignantly refuse to play again for Duke, and transfer enmasse to Duke's main competitor....

let's be honest....the Duke elitiest and politically correct professors did not support any of their players......they chose sides early....

Megan Kendall says defenses sources are saying that CGM had sex with the driver the night of the alledged rape.

I thought this was common knowledge.

Isn't that her "payment" to her drivers?

Isn't that also prostitution?

1 : the act or practice of indulging in promiscuous sexual relations especially for money (or rides)
