The bad news for the Trojan football team seemed to come in waves after the Rose Bowl.
Now the team, and specifically quarterback Mark Sanchez, is finally experiencing a positive resolution to what became a very public problem. The sexual assault allegations against Sanchez have been dropped by Los Angeles County prosecutors.

This kid better not accept an offer from Trojan condoms to do a stint as Trojan Man.
Or maybe he should... Ah well, not my concern.

You may need a membership to read the full article, and it hasn't hit other websites yet so here's the gist of it.
None of the witnesses' stories collaborated with the tale that the young woman told police. Due to his underage drinking he's likely to get a two game suspension from the team.
Now on the Durham!

According to the Orange County register, the D.A.'s office released a charge evaluation worksheet that said the alleged victim in the case agreed to consensual kissing and petting on Sanchez's bed. According to the worksheet, the woman said she repeatedly refused Sanchez's advances to have intercourse with her but continued to make out with him when he stopped.
Another couple in the next room was unaware of what was going on, according to the worksheet, and the alleged victim "did nothing to convey through words or conduct that she had been assaulted" when she later spent approximately 20 minutes with them.
It was the overprotective mother called the cops, got the ball rolling, and ruined the kid's reputation. NOW will always call him a rapist.
The drinking issues will still follow him and he'd better clean up his act on that front.
PS I am not Holier than thou- I boozed it up as an underage athlete too. But I was not on scholarship at a major university nor did I carry a fake ID.

"However, after the charges were filed all of the rumblings on campus pointed to the fact that none of the witnesses' stories collaborated with the tale that the young woman told police." Maybe that is a correct use of the word, but I think the author meant to use the word corroborated.

"Maybe that is a correct use of the word, but I think the author meant to use the word corroborated." You don't expect a journalist to write proper English, do you? There are too many other liberal classes to take that are required, rather than waste time on English.

"prosecutors have decided to not file charges against Sanchez due to a lack of evidence"Great! Not that he didn't sexually assault her -- just that there was a lack of evidence. Yep. Now he's got to carry that around with him the rest of his life. What a crock.
This is the #1 reason why NO NAMES should be released until it goes to public court. I note that her name is hidden.

That is all prosecutors can ever do. Otherwise there would some legit reason to consider whether the prosecutor says someone is innocent or there just lacks evidence. He was not proven guilty thus he is innocent.

Reminds me of the moroon reporter going on and on about Katrina the other day. Then he went on to refer to the famed Conservation Hall in New Orleans.
Never mind that it's Preservation Hall.

Like OJ.
That is the American system. He was found liable but not guilty. You may not like it, I may not like it.
But do you want DAs to pronounce, this person was really innocent and that person we are letting go because we just could not prove a case against them. I personally will say no thanks to a system where the DA can exonerate his buddies but smear others who are investigated.

"He was found liable but not guilty"He was found not guilty. Because he was found not guilty, you're saying he's innocent (according to your post #13). I disagree. That's not what it means at all.
"But do you want DAs to pronounce, this person was really innocent and that person we are letting go because we just could not prove a case against them."
Nope. I said what I want, in cases like these especially, is that the name of the defendant not be released until the trial actually begins.
