Your memory is better than mine re the colours but we had them as well.
My sentence started a flood of memories for me as well. We had playing cards snap with the old and new money on them, called them snip snap. I think I still have a pack somewhere.

Eleanor..... I just got back from an outdoor concert. It is a brass band that does about 1/3 British marches/patriotic music.
It was great. BUT, got rained out for the last two numbers.

The logistics are pretty hard to work out--though not impossible.
We have each other's numbers--and she can call when she has the time...

Re: your conversation last night on water...
WATER OR COKE?
This is really an eye opener... Water or Coke? We all know that water is important but I've never seen it written down like this before. WATER
1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.
2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.
3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%.
4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study.
5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.
6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.
7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.
8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.
And now for the properties of COKE:
1. In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two gallons of coke in the truck to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.
2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke and it will be gone in two days.
3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola in to the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous China.
4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.
5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.
6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.
7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.
8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains.
9. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.
For Your Info:
1. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. Its pH is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis.
2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate), the commercial truck must use the Hazardous material place cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.
3. The distributors of coke have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years!
Now the question is; would you like a coke or a glass of water?

I am hoping that she will have more access to a computer than she previously thought. Hope it is a good summer there for her. Know she is looking forward to getting together with you.

You're probably right about the water, but I think some of those Coke things may be urban legends (Cokelore, if you will). Making a quick trip to snopes.com to check it out.

yes. good link!
I like my coke with RUM!
:-)
that way one isn't as concerned about the acid I suppose?
I was trying to find for you & Barb the article I had on water that was ALL water & no coke put down but it must be on one of the many external hard drives I have. This was second best.
I use coke to clean off rust from things. Have for years

THanks, I also know HTML too, I do a little freelancing webpages so with both of us knowing HTML, it sohuld be a snap. Plus, everything is more normal now and I hope it stays that way, last time, I was busy with Greystone and/or Boo, it is all a blur to me. B-)
Took Pansy, my almost 19 year old calico cat, to the vet today and she is doing well although we may think her allergies might be returning and if so, another trip to the vet for medicine, she gets them like clockwork. During my ordeal with Greystone/Boo, she did take a back seat, although she still got her meds for her thyroid of course, usually we make sure she eats by watching her like a hawk, offering food when we can. She went from 5 lbs, 13 oz to 5 lbs, 8 oz, still no big concern from the vet but she is a tiny cat, runt of the litter. Well, she gained it all back plus an extra half ounce.
I should have some good pics of the airshow too to post on the thread since we have "Wings Over Pittsburgh" that weekend. I didn't go last year, spent that weekend with my 90 year old grandmother, she's 91 now, but since I live so close to the airport, I did get some good pics.
Not my best one but this is one I can dig up and post quickly from last year's show of one of the Thunderbirds:
The Blue Angels are coming this year.

2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke and it will be gone in two days. What I want to know is how did that come about as fact. Did some poindexter run out of lemon juice for steak marinade and say "well, Mabel, guess we gotta marinate 'em in Coca Cola"? It's amazing what we didn't know before the internet existed.

Well, according to the link, that part is no legend. Coke certainly does clean things (this is not cause for alarm, though).
