OK. Enough of the MSM nonsense for the day.
We've had threads about the best sports mascots and threads about the best TV commercials, but never one honoring the icons of advertisements, the product spokesman.
So here are the top 7 according to the leading experts (me).
7. The Big Fig Newton guy. ....Golden cakey tender flakey outside...
6. The Marlboro Man. No one has done more to get people hooked on fags than this guy. Don't know if he ever said much though
5. Lucky. Alway after me lucky charms. I think he's still in business today, and hasn't aged a bit.
4. Pillsbury Doughboy. Another timeless classic.
3. Mikey. Life Cereal - Probably the most oft quoted celebrity spokesman, though it's really his brother that does the talking. The brother never got any credit or respect.
2. Maytag repair Man. Too bad what has happened to Maytag recently, but this guy made them the most popular brand for a long time.
1. Swedish Bikini Team. My personal favorite, but alas even they could not make Old Milwaukee palatable.
Additions welcome.
I heard that. And he regretted being the marlboro man too, I think. Oh well.
I buy his product because I feel so sorry for him.
Can't anyone find Colin Mochrie a better job then this?
Mr. Whipple (Charmin)-- Who saved us all from having a chaffed arse.
Madge (the palmolive lady)-- Lotsa soft hands thanks to her.
The Jolly Green Giant-- Proved there's nothing wrong with veggies from a can.
Who? That's a new one on me.
Nice additions.
I'm trying to think if there is a spokesman for any meat in a can. There should be.
He wins most annoying. ;o)
Colin Mocrhie:
He used to be on "Whose Line is it Anyway?" -- both the UK and US versions. He's hilarious..... But now he's walking around in a tutu selling Nabisco cookies as the "Snack Fairy" in their commercials.
Oh. I haven't seen that "classic" yet. LOL
Definitely the AFLAC duck. One of the best running ad campaigns ever. Doubt me? Imagine how difficult it is to sell supplemental insurance on television and yet practically *everyone* can tell you who AFLAC is and what they sell. Another thing I really like about this ad campaign is that their ads still sell their product, rather than just going for laughs but ignoring the topic of actually selling the product.
I wish more advertising were this quality.
Anyone old enough to remember Ready Watt? (circa 1950)
Oh yeah. Sold tightie whities to the masses.
Is he the guy who reminded us to turn off the lights when we leave a room?
Joe Isuzu.
This guy.
Question, what are the Swedish Bikini Team Selling? (Other than sex)
Nope.. He was the mascot for the REA (Rural Electrification Act)
