WASHINGTON, May 31 After vowing to steer a greater share of antiterrorism money to the highest-risk communities, Department of Homeland Security officials on Wednesday announced 2006 grants that slashed money for New York and Washington 40 percent, while other cities including Omaha and Louisville, Ky., got a surge of new dollars.
Homeland security officials said the grants were a result of a more sophisticated evaluation process

You can still find fossils if you know where to look...

Yes, that was mentioned in the second link.
That's what created the badlands. Some global warming geologists think that a sudden outpouring of melted ice plunged into the North Atlantic and changed the saline ocean currents.
Earth has always been very dynamic. I guess humanity has had the misfortune of being a flea on a Jack Russell Terrier.

The Undead Thread has been a little slow tonight. I decided to write a poem.
Fireworks
When we were young the challenge was,
To figure out what made because.
From day and night, and dark and bright,
We learned that noise could cause a fright.
The Summer storms with crash and flare,
Showed there was tension in the air,
In our confusion and our fear,
We learned to hide when storms appear.
And this was wisdom on our part.
The fools among us thought it art.
They sought to learn the way of sky,
To poke and puzzle, and to pry.
Fire and lightning, distant kin,
We tried to find the fire within,
A fire that burned with such a flash,
The rushing air on ears would crash.
It was discovered, long ago,
The way to make a fire not slow,
To harness the force which quietly lurks,
So we all get a thrill when our fire works.

Let me see...tantrum...
The last time I threw one, I was probably under two years old. I liked to hold my breath when I was angry. We lived in Alaska, and when I held my breath once too often, my mother drew some cold water in the bath tub and dumped me in, clothes and all...
That took care of the tantrums...;o]

Nah... I suspect all the places we hiked to and found fossils in are all covered in homes, now. Takes all the fun out of it, somehow.

I'm here...late. I didn't exactly sleep in, but I figured as long as there was no real "movement" on the Undead Thread, I would loaf...so I did. Hi, 'Face! Guess you're long gone by now, but I made it back...

New York is a target. It makes sense to spend the money where the target is.So are the aqueducts in the middle of the California Desert.
