In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
pleonasm \PLEE-uh-naz-uhm\ noun
1. The use of more words than are necessary to express an idea; as, "I saw it with my own eyes."
2. An instance or example of pleonasm.
3. A superfluous word or expression.
Example sentence:
Such a phrase from President Nixon's era, much favored by politicians, is "at this moment in time." Presumably these five words mean "now." That pleonasm probably does little harm except, perhaps, to the reputation of the speaker.
-- Eoin McKiernan, "Last Word: Special Relationships", Irish America, August 31, 1994
Etymology: Pleonasm is from Greek pleonasmos, from pleon, "greater
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

Between the Zyrtec and Afrin nasal spray and the antibiotic, I am pleasantly breathing ok. Upset that applecart and I can't breathe. (sigh) I had gone years without allergy meds......this year is awful on my sinuses...
Tomorrow is my last dose of antibiotics.......that dang metal taste will be gone soon.

It's funny, I got the metallic taste on the 2x a day form, but not the once a day....

If brevity is the soul of wit, then I marvel at the lack of pleonasms among FReepers, who are definitely right to the point on everything.

Pleonasm is not a problem in this poem.

From the balcony high I see
the Kingdom of Reverie
days and nights of dreaming things
Dragons with iridescence wings
bejeweled bellies, glittering bright
in the darkness of the night
In my room with such a view
a lucky dreamer of pleasant things
when I awake it's still all there
a living castle in the air.

James Lileks is an entertaining fellow, who takes mere pleonasm to new literary heights as he describes his day.Lileks is hilarious.
