Prayer Vigil for the Immigration Issue

Prayer Vigil For the Immigration Crisis

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life, godly and respectful in every way. 1 Timothy 2: 1-2, RSV

Dear FRiends, I invite you to join us in a 24 hour a day prayer vigil to ask God's help and protection and guidance on the immigration issue before Congress.

Let us place our country's needs before our Father's throne of grace that the right actions will be taken to protect our country and keep it safe.

We are asking for people to be willing to pray for at least 1/2 hours blocks. I will organize this on a 7 day schedule, to continue to rotate until the crisis is resolved. If you can, please consider pledging at the same time each day, but if you can't let me know your schedule. It will go on until this issue is settled.

If you want to pledge, let me know your time choices, and let me know your time zone!

I doubt it most highly. Knowing the people on this thread, I would be very surprised if any would outright pray like you suggest.

We, I am sure, are praying that God protect our country and give the political leaders the wisdom to do the things that will fit into God's plan.

You are free to pray as you want, too.

I have a great aversion to telling God what to do. But I see him answering prayers in amazing ways all the time - things people ask him to help with, often in ways they would have never expected it.

God bless.

Exactly - he is not the author of confusion.

He knows we are seeking help and his guiding hand on the immigration crisis, and that most, if not all, of us want the House to stand firm and if it comes to it, the senate and house committes who will work on the bill to do what is right for America.

The Senate bill sucks, and is a huge danger to our country.

We pray that God will protect us and our country and guide our leaders with the wisdom that will do the right thing for America. We all have our opinions what that right thing will be. But God's way is the most correct way of all. And so, humbly, I pray that he lets that happen.

It is the other side that is the father of confusion, and may God protect us from that darkness trying to destroy the USA.

16: Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man has great power in its effects.

Thus says the LORD: "Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his arm, whose heart turns away from the LORD. He is like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see any good come. He shall dwell in the parched places of the wilderness, in an uninhabited salt land.

"Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit."

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately corrupt; who can understand it?

"I the LORD search the mind and try the heart, to give to every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings."

Jeremiah 17: 5-10

O Lord, have mercy on us,
each and every one of us
for trusting in our own strong hand
instead of in your hands.

O Lord, you who know all hearts,
soften our hearts,
awaken us to where we have failed,
awaken us to whom it is who gives us our strength,
and teach us to walk in your ways.

Today, O Lord, I send up my prayers
particularly for those who lead our nation.
Be with each and every one of our lawmakers,
those who have to sift through all the voices calling upon them to do this or do that.

Lord, you know what is right.
It is you who determined that there would be leaders to guide and protect the nations,
insuring the safety and justice of the people you entrust to them.

Today, O Lord,
send the light that will pierce through the darkness,
open the hearts of our leaders to their responsibilities
to care for the nation,
strengthen the ones who walk in your light,
soften the hearts of those who need to answer your call,
and teach them the ways of justice, truth, faithfulness.
Remind them that their responsibility to their duties is a holy obligation,
and show them the way they should walk to insure peace, prosperity, and justice,
safety at home,
and how to make our land an example of uprightness to the world.

O Father God, I ask this in your son Jesus our Lord's most holy name,
Amen.

And many peoples shall come, and say: "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths." For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

Isaiah 2:3

O Lord,
open our hearts
and let your Word quicken in us
that we might walk in your paths all the days of our lives.

O Lord,
open the hearts of those you have set as our leaders,
and let your Word quicken in them too,
that they might lead us in your paths,
for the glory of your name,
in ways of mercy, justice and right.

Amen.

Well done. You know, were it not for people like you to refocus my energies, I would spend most of my time gnashing my teeth. The evil set against us is a force we can not deal with on our own, although at times I'm inclined to. THAT'S when and where the frustration takes hold and the peace which passeth all understanding deserts me. Thanks.

GOD OF OUR FATHERS

God of our fathers, Whose almighty hand
Leads forth in beauty all the starry band
Of shining worlds in splendor through the skies
Our grateful songs before Thy throne arise.

Thy love divine hath led us in the past,
In this free land by Thee our lot is cast,
Be Thou our Ruler, Guardian, Guide and Stay,
Thy Word our law, Thy paths our chosen way.

From war’s alarms, from deadly pestilence,
Be Thy strong arm our ever sure defense;
Thy true religion in our hearts increase,
Thy bounteous goodness nourish us in peace.

Refresh Thy people on their toilsome way,
Lead us from night to never ending day;
Fill all our lives with love and grace divine,
And glory, laud, and praise be ever Thine.

~ Words: Daniel C. Roberts

Heavenly Father, we throw ourselves on Your mercy asking that You reveal Your wisdom and Your Truth to those in our government who make our laws. Open their ears to Your will that they may take Your Word into their hearts.

Our nation has sinned against You in many ways and we beg Your forgiveness, seeking the healing that only You can bring to our land. Let us harken back to the God of our founding fathers whom You inspired to start this nation off on such a firm foundation, unique among all nations in history and acknowledging You as the Source of strength and guidance. Revive and refresh us, O Lord, that we may seek to know and follow Your will. Amen.

When a land transgresses it has many rulers; but with men of understanding and knowledge its stability will long continue.

Proverbs 28:2

Lord, have mercy.
Christ have mercy.
Lord have mercy.
