From open shame and hidden sin,
From boastful pride and greedy store,
God keep our nation evermore!"

Thanks for the ping. "My Country 'Tis of Thee" brings back so many good memories. I do pray for our country and leaders so we may remain that "Sweet land of liberty".

O Lord,
In an age where we face enemies without, and even at home, those who would destroy what we would build show their faces boldly, we ask you to guide us through the treacherous waters that the Enemy sends our way. May those who would pretend to be our allies or co-workers when actually they would betray us show their faces clearly and be known for what they are.
Protect those who would lead us in your paths and grant them a special gift of wisdom to discern your path.
Remember us, Lord, in thy Mercy, for you are our strength.
In the name of Jesus, Amen.

We can also stand strong on Amos 3:7 (Amplified)"Surely the Lord God will do nothing without revealing His secret to His servants the prophets."

And there is this piece from one of the psalms I have been drawn to today:
Deliver me from my enemies,
O my God,
protect me from those who rise up against me,
deliver me from those who work evil,
and save me from bloodthirsty men.
For, lo, they lie in wait for my life;
fierce men band themselves against me.
For no transgression or sin of mine, O LORD,
for no fault of mine,
they run and make ready.
Rouse thyself, come to my help, and see!
Thou, LORD God of hosts, art God of Israel.
Awake to punish all the nations;
spare none of those who treacherously plot evil.
Psalm 59:1-5

Humanity does not survive by bread alone. Life requires other things, and Faith and Love are amongst them. For many, perhaps for all, they are the only really important things we have.
