I wonder if all the booze and pills had something to do with it.

Is there any illness this woman has NOT had?

She's a survivor, to say the least.

"I took care of an elderly woman who had it as a second, part-time job."

Not to make light of this situation at all, but the way you worded that sentence made me chuckle. It sounds like the woman had Alzheimers as a part-time job. :)

God bless you for your care for her. It sounds like you felt deeply for her and I'm sure she knew that even though she was confused about so many other things.

I am sorry to hear that this great American beauty and talented actor has Alzheimer's disease. One thing is certain, we will never forget her in National Velvet, Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, Whose Afraid of Virginia Wolf and others.

For Elizabeth Taylor, things can only get better, to quote her buddy, Sir Elton John. As wacky as she is, Alzheimer's shouldn't change things much. She's always been out of it.

Maybe she can join Michael Jackson now.

She hasn't done anything significant since LBJ was president, and she sucked then.

From healthyminds.org:

Dementias

Dementia, which is characterized by confusion, memory loss, and disorientation, is not an inevitable part of growing old. In fact, only 15 percent of older Americans suffer from this condition. Of that number, an estimated 60 percent suffer from Alzheimer's disease, a progressive mental deterioration for which no cause or cure has been found.

The other 40 percent of all dementias can be caused by:

Complications of chronic high blood pressure, blood vessel disease or a previous stroke. Deterioration is in steps rather than in a steady progression. Parkinson's disease, which generally begins with involuntary and small tremors or problems with voluntary movements. Dementia may occur when the disease is severe or very advanced.

As Drango said, you can help find a cure for Alzheimer's. Donate your unused CPU cycles to help find a cure. Check our his link or just look for the keyword "Folding".

You can help. It requires no more effort on your part but the 5 minutes it takes to set it up on your computer.

Yeah, you are right. It has been a while since I took English Comp 101. If you can believe it I got an A in the course. No offense taken though. Thank you for your kind words.

What you spoke was your opinion. On a thread discussing a terminal illness the actress has acquired.

So now we know you didn't like Liz Taylor and will write negative things about her on a thread about her Alzheimers.

Isn't that special..
