Time for a new FreeRepublic folding@home thread.
Our FreeRepublic team of 337 members comprised primarily of Free Republic members in good standing have banded together to donate their excess CPU cycles to a worthy cause. Via distributed computing, millions of computers around the world, contribute directly to scientific research, in the quest for a greater understanding of diseases such as Alzheimer's, Cancer, and Mad Cow (BSE).
Currently, the team is in 103th place (with 988 active CPUs - 36,400 completed Work Units and more than 6,4 million points).
This is an entirely voluntary program, and if you want to learn more, please see the links posted below (or read one of the previous 17 folding threads)

Our weekly totals look amazing. We're sprinting past our nearest competition.
Continuing to climb, and fast.

Our hope is to get into the Top50, although some members have higher aspirations :)

Yup... #3, right behind team default, and team google.
I betcha, we're in the top 10, within 9 months. Remember, August is coming up, and you know what that means.....

I'll add two more computers to the task when I get back. They're just sitting in the house doing very little most of the time. Might as well put them to a worthy use.

August is coming up, and you know what that means Uh, no. But I am strictly an amateur geek.
I can foresee the FReeper team sprinting past a lot of university/college based teams over the summer vacation period if that's what you're alluding to.
And what's with our down-trending production totals? What's behind that?

'cuz I work for a school District, and I lost about 300+ folders, when the schools shut down for the summer. August, I get them back, and I should my daily totals back up to a reasonable level.

AMAZING, we're NUMBER ONE (hundred)!
When we were aiming for our first million, six seemed nearly insurmountable.

T.G.I.F.F !!!!!!! (don't ask)
A big THANKS and CONGRATS to all members of the FReeRepublicFolders !!!!
Being on page 1 is a HUGH deal, but everybody please remember the bigger picture, whether you contribute 1 point or a million, we are here to help find a solution to Alzheimer's, Cancer, Mad Cow (BSE), and other diseases.
We can help solve our own future problems.
I'm proud to be a member with such a fine group of people !

I remember, back in the day, when my husband was attached to the Constellation - the wives clubs would have a big dinner and celebration for "Double-Digit Day" when the ship would be home in less than 100 days.

Been a double digit midget, many a times.... Never actually made a cruise on the Connie, but waved at her in passing, coming and going, on quite a few occasions.
