I kind of wish he had tied Ruth in Houston. (No offense intended.) My reasoning is that then he would have been showered with boos and not been able to enjoy the steroids-induced "moment." Sounds like, although he was booed when introduced before the start of the game, being in the bay area, he still got a standing ovation when he hit the home-run. I don't think he even deserved that.

I still content he didn't use steroids. It is possible to gain size using free weights (not Nautilus) and supplements.Exactly what free weight exercises did he use to change the shape of his head?
Balco Barry is a cheater.
B-roid is baseball's national disgrace.

I thought the comment they made during the live Yankees-Mets coverage on this was an absolute classic (I think it was Tim McCarver who said something along these lines): "In all my years in baseball I never could have imagined how anti-climactic it would be when someone tied Ruth's career home run total. Look at that clip of the home run we just saw on FOX . . . IT WAS ALMOST AS IF IT WERE JUST ANOTHER HIGHLIGHT CLIP FROM A MAJOR LEAGUE GAME TODAY." Tim McCarver is the best in baseball. He knows the game better than anyone (imo). I love listening to him.
It was indeed anti-climactic.
I'm still waiting for someone to come close to tying my favorite baseball record of all time ........... Harvey (The Kitten) Haddix's 12 innings of perfectly pitched ball in 1959 -- the anniversary of which comes up May 26th.
That original fabulous night in Milwaukee I will never, ever forget.

At any given time in baseball's history there were cheaters. It just use to be that players would use corked bats and "tonics" (which were nothing more then sugar water). Now players have steroids which actually do make you stronger. I do not doubt that Ruth, Aaron, Mayes, and all the other greats have tried to cheat at some time in their career it just was their way of cheating did absolutely nothing.

Actually, his HR rate has picked up by an average of about 30% per year since 1998. It's not a lot in terms of numbers, but for a percentage, it is, AND it happened AFTER he bulked up.

I realize that you don't believe he takes steroids, but if it is proven that he is, what do you think should be done to his records.
