Ohhhh, folks are mentioning brands that have disappeared off the shelves. Lol, this is like old home week, hahaha!

Never heard of Stoneys. Of course, every region has their own cheapo beers. Milwaukie's Best, Old Milwaukie, and Milwaukie 1851 come to mind. We bought Schaffer's for years(yuck). I'm surprised that Country Club Malt Liquor didn't make the list. It tastes good to us, but up here, we can only get it in 40's.

Bf says Keystone is the worst. I drank that, too.

Retsina is the best thing going. The imported stuff is off somehow, but what they serve in the restaurants is very good and excellent.

"I love Natty Ice! What the heck are they talking about?"

I couldn't agree more! Natty Ice is a great drinking beer. It is, however, very high in calories. This is somewhat offset by it's higher alcohol content (10% more than most beers).

Miller Lite Ice was my favorite drinking beer, but they stopped distributing it on Long Island several years ago. :-(

"let's have some Hamm's"

YIKES, how in the heck did you find that? That Hamm's mp3 audio IS really bizarre.

http://ubu.wfmu.org/sound/365/07/365-Days-Project-07-10-young-adults-hamms-beer.mp3

Other than the maddening tune, George Orwell would be proud. "we're the new generation" "proud consumer", "young adults" "we're the group of the hour" "we're the growing new market" "get with us" "we're growing you profits" all with an understated threat, "be nice to us" or else...

Thanks, that's a better link! You may enjoy some of the other material on that website (there are multiple pages, but on the page with the Hamm's ad, I would recommend "Chicago Policeman" and "The Will of God," although the latter has some extremely rude things to say about Germans). WFMU radio broadcasts from Jersey City (offers streaming audio too) and has something for just about everyone. This is an affiliated website.

Luckily, I haven't tried most of them. I notice the list is loaded with "lite" beers, which is no surprise.

I remember getting a "rack of Gennies" one fateful day after Poughkeepsie and LINDA!

Old Frothingslosh? With the head on the bottom? Truely a heinous beer, but I tasted a generic light beer that was the worst. Would finish the can for $20.

Ox Cart was pretty memorably bad; and of Moosehead it's said that at least they're honest about the animal involved, if not which end.

No Falls City? No Narragansett? No Jax? No Falstaff? No Carling Black Label? No Dixie? No Pearl?

I realize that most of those aren't in production any more(with good reason).

Palma Luoca. Palma Luoca. Palma Luoca.

Definitely the BEST beer in the world. Probably not even one in a thousand Americans have tried it and even few Brazilians have drunken it. However, Palma Luoca is easily the BEST beer in the World (will probably buy another case this Monday).

I've never seen Buckhorn. How foul was it?

Does anyone remember the supermarket "plain wrap" brands? That was *really* bad. Ballantine, Falstaff, St. Ides, Pacifico (Mexican Coors). These were added by my bf. Stroh's wasn't too bad, but it disappeared off the shelves several years ago.

What shocks me is the price they charge for Bud, Coors, and Miller. None of those beers rate what is charged. If it's on sale, I like Mickey's or Rolling Rock. RR chilled to to point of starting to ice up, on a blazing hot summer day :-D

Your experience is very similar to mine. A few years back, I got busy, and stopped making my own beer, although it was generally better than anything I could buy. I satisfied myself with microbrews, anything else was undrinkable. A couple years ago, I decided to get in shape, and as part of that, I had to drink light beers or none at all. I learned to be able to drink some of them. I could stand Coors light, for example, but that Michelop Ultra was undrinkable, and Bud Light and Miller Light did not taste good to me.

This new Budweiser Select is pretty good, and I drink that most of the time now. I do have the occasional regular beer, and when I do, man does it taste good. I was always a fan of the dark stuff.

Here in Memphis, Stroh's bought out the Schlitz brewery. Later Coors bought it. I haven't seen a Stroh's since.

"They forgot Genesee Cream Ale.
Possibly the

Worst

Beer

Ever"

One time I went camping with some friends at a cabin in upstate NY. We arrived at 6 am, the closest stores weren't open yet for supplies. Luckily, in the shed we found an old case of Genny Cream Ale. My buddy said it had been there ~ 5 years before when he had been there. We drank it. It was bad.

Ah, the days of Genny Cream...

I seem to remember we used to bowl a lot better when we drank GCA (and that's about all I remember from those days ;)

Does anyone remember Carlin Black Label Beer?

Unfortunately yes. When I was stationed in Rhode Island, the Teamsters went on strike and the only thing left in the stores and bars was Black Label. Most of us swore if we never drank a BL again it would be too soon.
