NEW YORK - Britney Spears stumbled outside a Manhattan hotel, nearly dropping her 8-month-old son and further fueling the ever-growing media scrutiny of her parenting skills.

In photos splashed across the front page and inside the New York Post on Friday, the 24-year-old pop star is shown exiting The Ritz-Carlton hotel with Sean Preston in one hand and a glass in the other.

As her bodyguards walked Spears to her car, she stumbled — her long pants apparently getting tangled in her open-toed shoes — and bent low as Sean Preston's head flung backward, knocking off his orange hat.

When a co-worker was pregnant with her first child, I gave her a "facts of life" parenting talk. The first thing I told her was that accidents happen, and accidents will happen to your child, and accidents will happen that will be YOUR FAULT with your child. For example, at some time in your baby's life, you are going to whack his or her head on the car door jamb while trying to put him/her in the car seat. You can exercise all the caution you want, but sooner or later....it's going to happen. And your baby will cry. And you will feel really bad that you did it. But, you will survive, your baby will survive, and your baby will probably not hold it against you for the rest of your life.

Personally, I'm tired of the microscope on Britney's parenting skills. He who is without sin, let him cast the first stone.

Good thing they don't follow every parent around and take pictures of every bad moment that we have.

No kidding. Pretty much a no win situation for her.

For my mom's car, seat belts were an option. Car seat? Two in the front and a bench in the rear. Plenty of room for a car load of kids. Personally, I liked riding in the back of the pick up with the dog, standing up and trying not to get hit by june bugs and bumble bees.

The person who installed our car seat told me that most car seats are not properly installed.

And I'm sure he told you "This is how it should be installed."
Of course everyone elses way of installing is incorrect,
he sold YOU on it.
By you're posting about it.....he's a damn good salesman.

Until the late sixties, most children grew up standing in the front seat. All most all of them survived.

No, many didn't or we wouldn't have such safety laws today. In the 50's my cousin died because my aunt, in the front passenger seat, was holding him. They were driving slowing in town when they rounded a curve and an oncoming car crossed the yellow line right into them. The impact caused her body to move forward crushing him between herself and the dash.

I dunno. I suggest she take advantage of the media's obsession like this:

Britney walks out of a clothing store with a shopping bag in one hand and a blanket-covered baby in the other.

Before she gets into the vehicle, she drops the baby. BAM! Right onto the sidewalk!

The photographers swoop into the scene with cameras blazing.

Britney then picks up the baby and walks over to the cameras. Then she yanks off the blanket from the unmoving form and reveals the, "Baby," as a large plastic baby doll. Her Son is safely inside the vehicle the whole time with his Father.

Britney and her Husband then give the photographers a finger to take a picture of.

Leave her the heck alone, enemedia! There's heroes in Iraq doing outstanding deeds and tasks who deserve more attention than Britney's receiving.

JMHO

While I really believe she is a moron and her spouse an even bigger moron this just increases my total disgust for the media. This girl is human and just because she trips they make a big deal out of it? I slipped in the snow one time while holding my then 7 month old daughter. Thankfully, I was able to cradle her head while allowing my wrist to hit the ice(I have a scar on the wrist to prove it)I would hate to think that I was considered to be a questionable parent because I slipped on the ice. I think the media needs to back off especially for the sake of that little boy and the baby to be. They are going to be messed up as it with the parents they have without the media constantly on them.

Yes, but Britney's response when she dropped the baby was, 'oops I did it again'.
