I need to purchase a new vehicle. I need questions answered so I can narrow down my choice. Is there a site or a board that does this? I have not found anything yet.

No jsut a gravel road to the house. But things can get tricky there in the winter and spring.

You say you're coming off an 8 passenger vehicle...the 4 Runner seats 5 comfortably. If you want more, go to a Sequoia

The little bugs are growing up I only need to take 3 with me these days, and next year only two.

Get a vehicle 2 years old or so. There is a site (Google it) where you can take over leases people want to walk away from.

New cars lose too much value too quickly.

Thanks. I got one of the answers I needed from the car talk site. They told me that the Subarus, RAV4s, and CRVs are basically CARS. They are not trucks. Trucks are rugged, cars are not. The owner's manual of my Subaru specifically states that the car is designed to be driven on paved roads only, and not meant for off road use.

I need a vehicle that is small that can be used on gravel road.

Should have no problems with a gravel road with some snow/mud.

You may need more agressive tire treads if it's really steep with lots of snow... the standard tires are a cross between mud and snow and street so you get better mileage.

I would say go drive a 4Runner or Sequoia and see what you think. ;-)

Yep, the RAV4 is a small SUV on a car chassis.

The 4Runner is a truck chassis with a soft suspension. The Sequoia is a little heavier and firmer.
