Wohlford, 80, had the words "DO NOT RESUSCITATE" tattooed on her chest I've never had such sympathy for a tattoo artist.

Well, that would be an OK tat, I guess, but I think my choice would still be, "No User Serviceable Parts Inside"

"Sometimes the nuttiest ideas are the most advanced." Unfortunately this isn't one of those situations.

I tried that, with a different instruction on a different body part.
Mine didn't work either.

If there's no signed, witnessed legal document any family member can demand that a hospital resuscitate regardless of any tattoo and that hospital *will* resuscitate.

A medic alert bracelet would have been quite enough.

Wohlford, 80, had the words "DO NOT RESUSCITATE" tattooed on her chest in February.
The tattoist had to use one of these first to straighten everything out.

Good for her! Smart move -- don't let there be any doubt.
It is so funny how people see this. My wife and I both have Living Wills that say DNR (no extraordinary measures).
My brother asked me to be executor of his will and also to be trustee (or whatever) in case he and his wife both become debilitated. His instructions: "Do anything and everything to keep me alive. I don't care if I am a vegetable, I will be a LIVE vegetable."
I suspect he is an atheist (or an agnostic).
Just interesting.

"He recommended a living will or an advanced directive, with a copy placed in the patient's medical charge. He also said people should discuss their wishes with family members."So what if you are several thousand miles from home? I've been thinking of getting something similar for years. I have the feeling that just to "wring a buck" it wouldn't be honored.
