Will retinal work if they are pie eyed on alcohol?
Would ear scans work through years of ear wax?

Thanks for this thread. Makes more sense when a person doesn't have to sift through all the other junk to get to the ideas.

Unless there is some personal incentive for the current illegals to come forward, it will be impossible to ever identify them or their background. They will remain the illegal underbelly from now on.

This incentive to get on the road to citizenship provides an incentive to have a better life and become an American paying taxes, learning the language and improving themselves and their salaries. We then determine who they are, and put them on the track of personal improvement.

We have to break the lawbreaking culture they brought with them from the corrupt Mexico.

I think that is the main purpose of the "path" to citizenship - to find the illegals, determine who is in this country and if possible help them contribute rather than be a drain on services.

What a gross thought. Ugh.

Maybe we don't have to go too deeply into solving the immigration problems. Afterall - we don't get paid.

You are welcome.

FreeRepublic has a great resource of people with many ideas. We should be able to harness them and maybe even come up with some really good ones.

It amazes me at the intelligence of so many and it is so easy for them.

We have people all over the country - all backgrounds - and they are generally avid about immigration. So - let's use those brains. Wish we had done something like this a good while back.

Now we are in the midst of immigration overload and the irritation with our congress people.

I see what you are saying. I guess, I look at the path to citizen ship as the carrot, and the idea I put forth about, once deported, there is no path to citizen ship as the stick.

Guess I don't quite understand.

You are talking about the ones already here? So you are saying all are merely to be deported with no option for ever being a citizen?

No. I guess I should have been clearer. There are some who have been deported. We probably can not apply this to them, but a law needs to be passed that if anyone in the future is deported, they can not become a citizen of this country. If they go home now, and re-enter legally and have not and do not break any of our laws, they can stay. I am only suggesting this for those that have been taken back across the border or ocean, to their own country. Once that happens, they can not become a citizen ever.

I don't think 6,000 NGs are enough unless you increase BP's and allow groups like the Minutemen to guard the border. Whoever is guarding the border has to mean business and I do feel all of them should be armed.

I forgot to add that state and local law enforcement can also play a role as long as their jurisdictions are not neglected in the process.

I don't think they are enough either. But, I am interested in what kind of technological surveillance they will use.

It would really help if we felt they were sincere about control rather than just a token effort to pacify the public.

I'm not clear how "militarization" is being defined by the Pres. or anyone else. Does anyone know?

1.I Believe the Goldwater Doctrine is correct.

The Goldwater Doctrine:

"I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom.

My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

It is not to inaugurate new programs, but to cancel old ones that do violence to the Constitution, or that have failed in their purpose, or that impose on the people an unwarranted financial burden.

I will not attempt to discover whether legislation is 'needed' before I have first determined whether it is constitutionally permissible.

And if I should later be attacked for neglecting my constituents' interests, I shall reply that I was informed their main interest is liberty and that in that cause I am doing the very best I can."

- Former Sen. Barry Goldwater (R-Ariz.), "The Conscience of a Conservative"

2.I Believe the President's primary job is to protect the Constitution, not protect the country. The Constitution, if properly protected will protect the country far better than any transitory Administration or Legislation

Best regards,

By militarization, I understand that he meant the Guard will not be patroling with guns apprehending people. Their duty will be to do the support work to free up the border patrol who has the authority to do the policing. They will do the construction, engineering, surveillance management, technological equipment installation and handling and training. I expect they also will set up procedures for mounting offensives coordinating the use of the intelligence and technology.

They will be effective as the military in America is very effective.

Bush does not want to "scare" Vincente Fox and make him mad. If the Guard is not doing police work, it is none of the business of Fox what is done with our Guard. Not his business if the Guard was doing the policing but that is a more major effort and runs into official duties of border patrol and military.

Examine everything in the interval between 1960 (original publication date) and now and answer truthfully:

Would a Goldwater Presidency then or NOW be any worse if not demonstrably better than the current status quo?

We need, must have, an Israeli type fence along our border. Every one screams, "expense", if anyone has seen the impressive Israeli fence, each block in the fence appears to be 30 feet wide, 50 ft tall, and 10 to 12 ft thick blocks stacked side by side. It has sensors, guard towers at given intervals, they did not mess around, yet tiny Israel seems to be able to afford it.

Germany, after railing against Israel's fence, calling it "divisive", has hired the same Israeli contractors to build them the exact same fence between themselves and the Balkans. Are they richer than we are? Our plan looks so lame, it looks so easily destroyed requiring expensive repair, after repair, after repair to keep it up and non functioning has a smoke and mirrors deterrent to illegal crossings. We can either invest in something that is going to work with little repair needed, or we can buy into a clunker with 200,000 miles on it which will have to be replaced within a month.

The gag line that the fence is too expensive is a laugh when the governments answer for decades to making all their dreams come true is to just print more money and add it to the taxpayers tab, covering their inability to finance the entire pipe dream. Welfare, SS, and Medicare comes to mind. In other words it's just as easy to put a fence on our running tab as it is to put on our tab a tunnel in Messytusis still under construction for 40 years that will never be completed.

I want a fence but that will still not stop the infiltration.

I do like the plan of fences in the populated areas and other obstacles, surveillance in the remote areas. Any fence can be broken through in a remote area. All it would take is a small bomb if nothing else. There has to be more effective methods there.

But, the whole process can fall apart anywhere if the resolve to prevent the infiltration is not there. Look at the green zone in Iraq. The resolve is there to prevent infiltration.

Our major problem is that due to the desire for ignorant people that can be lured for votes the whole system has 50% of the public against stopping the potential cheap voters.

On top of that we have the corruption element. Where can the corrupt element in our society get workers for their corrupt activities - the illegal aliens of course. So easy and so cheap.

Illegals are a major problem in our society and apparently those in our government do not mind robbing the treasury to pay for non-citizens all the while telling us social security can not survive, telling us that we must do something to save SS. Yet, they are voting in laws that will totally destroy it.

We have real reason to vote out every one of our congress members in their next elections. We are not being served by these people. We are being manipulated and our country taken over without even a battle.

Their actions are turning me from a avid GOP activist to one that realizes that those in Washington are not worth all my work. We need term limits if we are to save this country.

Too many in our government are on the take and selling our country daily.
