KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) - A Malaysian man slapped his wife on their wedding night and stormed out of their home after she received a text message from an unknown admirer who professed his undying love for her.

"Though you are married, I still love you," was the message that flashed on the screen of the 19-year-old woman's mobile phone just as the couple were about to enter their room at 2 a.m. Sunday, official news agency Bernama reported.

Her husband, 25, refused to believe the woman's statement that she did not know who the sender was, hit her, tossed away the phone and walked out of the house, the agency said on Monday, quoting the Borneo Post newspaper.

Police on the rugged eastern island have arrested a man and are investigating after the woman and her family complained about the incident in a case that one official called unique in his 33-year career.

The couple are members of the Iban, a tribe of former headhunters that lives in communal longhouses and makes up about a third of the population of Borneo.

I'm being surpasses by headhunters in terms of technology. I'm pretty sure I have text messaging on my plan, but I've never used it once.

I just googled text messaging. It's called SMS and it's similar to our abbrev. words in cyberspace such as LOL, BTW, FWIW, etc.. So the headhunter woman prob. received something like this:

BTWSHot4U-Hugs--or--StillHOT4U-I (heart)U

Of course it would be SMS'ed in the native language. See silly threads teach us something new. Kim Komando has a section on her website dedicated to decifering SMS.

Never use text messaging either. Hate it when my provider sends me a message: "We've upgraded your service!"

Big whoop. Could you make my other service better so I d.... break....over...and then fall off

I hadn't noticed after years of listening to information on computers. I must be oblivious of such things when there is a discussion on the best hardware, software, etc..

Agreed!

I'm trying to find a Far Side cartoon with a couple paddling down the river waving to a group of headhunters. It's a classic.
