Hope everyone has a good Mothers Day. The big topic in the state of Texas (or is it the state of Taxes) concerns the special session of the state legislature, scheduled to end tomorrow (16 May).
Several bills set of the governors desk. New business tax and increase cigarette tax. Meanwhile, the state has a $8.2 billion surplus. Notice that the tax increases passed the legislature quickly, while miniscule and temporary property tax relief struggles through the legislature. Hence the name TAXES.

Some good news from the state. Voters in my school district voted DOWN a school bond proposal over the weekend. First time in recent memory bond issue has failed. Hence keeping the name TEXAS.
