Duke Lacrosse DNA: Mystery Man Revealed (Accuser's Boyfriend!!!)

May 13, 2006 — The second round of DNA test results in the Duke University rape investigation show "no conclusive match'' to any lacrosse players, defense attorneys said, but a vaginal swab of the alleged rape victim produced DNA from a "single male source'' — a man not on the lacrosse team who did not attend a March 13 party that was the site of the alleged rape.

Defense attorney Joe Chesire declined to identify the mystery man or his connection to the alleged victim, but ABC News' Law and Justice Unit has learned that the unnamed source of the DNA is the alleged victim's "boyfriend," according to her mother.

ABC News is withholding the name of the man because he is apparently not a target of the investigation. Records indicate that Durham, N.C., police gave the "boyfriend'' a cheek swab to collect DNA on May 3, ABC News' Law and Justice Unit has learned exclusively.

It is unclear if or how the first DNA tests missed what appears to be the only foreign genetic material found on the alleged victim's body, defense attorneys said. Two Duke lacrosse players were indicted more than two weeks before the cheek swab was taken from the "boyfriend."

It is also unclear whether the alleged victim had sex with the "boyfriend" the night she claims to have been raped by three Duke lacrosse players. DNA experts tell ABC News that genetic traces of semen can remain in the body up to six days after intercouse.

As a former academic I have experience with faculty and otherwise with all the schools you mention. You can generalize all you want about "traditions and respect", but with the exception of Harvard (which I did not list), those schools have a history of low-grade warfare committed by the surrounding community on the students at the schools and yet, out of the other side of their mouths, the community will say that the school is somehow responsible for the communities problems and please sign the check here. Since Duke is a big league academic school, I guess Durham is just trying to become a "big league" shakedown city.

Crystal Gail Mangum and Kim Roberts have made a series of major bad decisions in their lives that directly produced their current degraded situations. Aside from bad judgment that one night in allowing those two into their house, the Duke lax team has made all the right decisions in life. Don't tell me about "privilege" either. I know plenty of kids who had all the monetary advantages of some of the Duke lax team members and have turned out to be total screw ups. Plenty of the Duke lax team members, and Duke students overall, got where they are through sheer hard work (c.f. the New York fireman's sons.) The Duke lax team doesn't owe those two women squat.

If the Duke lax team is emblematic of Duke, then those two women are emblematic of Durham. Durham makes a continuing series of bad decisions (like electing Mike Nifong) and now finds itself in its current degraded state. Duke doesn't owe Durham squat either.

What's really going on is that the Duke lax team is a constant reminder to people like Crystal and Kim what a couple of screwups they are and Duke is a constant reminder to Durham what a fuster cluck their city is. Since Crystal, Kim and Durham can't figure out how to put themselves right then they figure the least they can do is to bring down the successful in their midst.
