May 13, 2006 The second round of DNA test results in the Duke University rape investigation show "no conclusive match'' to any lacrosse players, defense attorneys said, but a vaginal swab of the alleged rape victim produced DNA from a "single male source'' a man not on the lacrosse team who did not attend a March 13 party that was the site of the alleged rape.
Joe Cheshire, a defense attorney for Duke University lacrosse players at the center of a rape investigation, said the latest tests show no conclusive match to any of the lacrosse players' DNA. (ABC News
Defense attorney Joe Chesire declined to identify the mystery man or his connection to the alleged victim, but ABC News' Law and Justice Unit has learned that the unnamed source of the DNA is the alleged victim's "boyfriend," according to her mother.
ABC News is withholding the name of the man because he is apparently not a target of the investigation. Records indicate that Durham, N.C., police gave the "boyfriend'' a cheek swab to collect DNA on May 3, ABC News' Law and Justice Unit has learned exclusively.
It is unclear if or how the first DNA tests missed what appears to be the only foreign genetic material found on the alleged victim's body, defense attorneys said. Two Duke lacrosse players were indicted more than two weeks before the cheek swab was taken from the "boyfriend."
It is also unclear whether the alleged victim had sex with the "boyfriend" the night she claims to have been raped by three Duke lacrosse players. DNA experts tell ABC News that genetic traces of semen can remain in the body up to six days after intercouse.

Lose the attitude or don't respond to me anymore. I wasn't nasty with you. I didn't say you said that Nifong was head of the rat party, nor did I interpret your statements as meaning that, nor did I say anything to imply that I thought you meant that. I just think it's a stupid, overblown, knee-jerk reactionarey idea. *SHRUG*
Maybe message boards aren't the place for people who can't accept any disagreement from their opinions.
I think there's a misplaced cause-and-effect scenario being mistaken for intelligent design, lol!
This is Nifong's baby; his and his alone, for him and by him.
"The one where once again the Christian Right gives Bush yet another "warning" about sitting home. *Sigh*"
Howlin, I usually just lurk and read,(everyday ;o)), just because of the posters you refer to. I get so mad, I can almost feel my blood starting to simmer. Also I'm not as quick on my feet with coherent responses as so many of you guys are. I'm usually 200 posts behind before I compose a logical, fact friendly response. By then, I just sigh, erase the post and either quit reading or leave in despair/disgust.
I am definitely part of the "Christian Right", but there is just no way I could maintain my personal integrity if I abandoned all by staying home and not voting. I just cannot trust those who use the threat of "staying home".
And NO vote of mine will ever contribute to getting the liberal democrats elected. Its a nose vs face thing. I guess its true that sometimes we vote to avoid the greater evil, which would be the hillary/kerry/gore type nightmare. Pres Bush hasn't pleased me all the time, and sometimes I just can't for the life of me understand where he is coming from, but I voted for him and, for the most part, trust him. I ain't dropping him.
But I still need my Free Republic "fix" each day, so I come and read these threads in Chat. I am fascinated, and repelled by this case. I am disgusted by most of the legal profession, at least the "high-powered guys we see defending their famous clients on tv). Its upsetting that there are prosecutors like this guy out there. I used to think that at least THEY were on the side of truth and justice. Quite disillusioning to see his irrational pursuing of this case.
Okay, I'm done. Keep up the good work, all you FReepers, I'm learing a lot from you all.

One of the things I don't quite understand fully yet is Lavonia's (et al) endorsement of Bishop; and where Nifong factors in.
It had seemed to me that Freda Black was the sure bet.
This tells me that not only is there a major power struggle in Durham, but that it's been going on a long time.
Headline: Investigation Into Burning Crosses Continues Outside North Carolina--
"The FBI also announced Wednesday that it is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. One day earlier, the Office of the Governor announced a $10,000 reward. Durham County Commissioner Lewis Cheek is offering a $1,000 reward".
Lewis Cheek and Durham school board meetings.
I've heard a lot about how raucus the board meetings have been.--snip:
"DURHAM, N.C. -- After more than four hours of raucous debate Wednesday, the Durham County School Board approved a policy limiting public comment at board meetings.
The board voted 4-3 along racial lines in favor of a policy that restricts comments to issues on the meeting agenda. People also wont be allowed to talk for more than three minutes each.
The board has debated the policy for several meetings. Last month, one spectator had to be removed from a meeting, and school board members shouted down each other.
County Commissioner Lewis Cheek attended Wednesday's meeting to speak in favor of the policy, which he said mimics the procedures he and fellow commissioners follow.
When the crowd turned on Cheek, he told them speaking at public meetings was a privilege, not a right.
School board member Jackie Wagstaff said Thursday that she disagrees with Cheek's position."

I saw your original post -- you are right. And when I saw it on the news about the fingernails... I heard the excuse in my head "those fingernails in the garbage can were those torn off while she was fighting her assailants; the ones still on her hands weren't used in the fight"......
According to what we all heard much earlier on... the dancers were BORING. The boys suggested they try to be a bit more lively. There was no threat to assault, as I understand from facts supplied at the time. The girls got upset at being "disrespected". And stopped dancing.. and both females went to the bathroom to change their clothes and leave.
I share your concern.
You could be absolutely right, Jezebelle. I've learned to not rule anything out. This case is that bizarre.
I think I have this right but haven't had my tea yet this morning.
FNC announced, twice, that the third player expected to be indicted is going to have a press conference this morning. Other players and an attorney will join him in a sign of solidatity.

ABC News Exclusive: Possible Duke Lacrosse Indictment of Third Player and DNA Details
Surrender Negotiated if Indicted, No Semen or Blood in Samples
Yeah, I think Howlin say something about press conference last night. I wonder if WRAL is going to carry it live.
From the ABC link:
Three men none of them Duke lacrosse players and all of whose identities are known by ABC News were listed in the report as providing DNA swabs to be tested against the samples found on the alleged victim.
One of the three men has told ABC News that he spoke to the alleged victim the night of the March 13 party. Another man is the alleged victim's boyfriend, and defense attorneys identified him in a news conference as the "single source" of DNA found to date in vaginal swabs of the accuser.
It is unclear why the three nonlacrosse players were included in the sampling.
So they did take DNA samples from the three non-players at the party and they aren't a match for any of the DNA either.
Interesting.
We had such storms here yesterday that I was hardly online so I clearly have some catching up to do.
Other players and an attorney will join him in a sign of solidatity.
YES!!
And as Ben Franklin was wont to say...
""We must all hang together, or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately".
Conquer and divide is the Marxist method.
I do not think these three were at the party, one was the "boyfriend."

NBC News reported Monday that the woman was expected to appear before the grand jury.
Seems like I remember you writing that you live in Augusta. I'm in Columbia. Yeah, thunderstorms off and on all day yesterday.
