What this novel does to Leonardo’s Last Supper, it does to Christianity as such. It asks people to consider equivalent to the mainstream Christian tradition quite a few odd claims. Some are merely distortions of hypotheses advanced by serious scholars who do serious research. Others, however, are inaccurate or false.

Dude, the problem is that too many sheeple believe it is the gospel truth. Last weekend I overheard in a bookshop a college-age young woman breathlessly explaining to a young girl (11-13?) how everything Dan Brown wrote in the book was absolutley true.

The child said, "But Jesus is the Son of God, that's what Mom says."

The older girl responded, "Mom doesn't know that the Bible is just a book of lies written by a bunch of oppressive men. That's what my professor said."

I know its only fictional, and I usually post such in these threads. Today, however, I spent my time with my liberal father, who swears the book is all based on pretty hard FACT. It was a shame I hadn't printed out this post. Now that I think of it, the daVinci deBunkers dont bother me. This stuff needs to be said, to get out. I didn't know alot of what I learned on this thread, and I am a fairly well informed guy.

And I say that as a non-Christian, Evolution believing secular conservative. I say debunk this stupid thing as much as one wants.
