He got a lot of media coverage over the past 12 months. And almost all of it was bad. Scientology. Brook Shields. Trying to censor South Park. Freaking out on Oprah. Eating a placenta. Silent birth. So much relentless bad publicity.

And for 20 years, Tom has been a Hollywood golden boy, with huge amounts of good will. And, oddly enough, it all came crashing down in a self-destructive orgy over the past 12 months.

I think he was set up.

He should never have killed off Jim Phelps in the first film.

Did he actually eat his baby's placenta? Is he related to Mike Tyson with his references to eating children?

..."but they will be able to re-claim a dominant position over Cruise."

I suspect the public's doubt of Cruise as a "leading MAN" is at the root of his problem."

The diminutive "pretty boy" just doesn't hack it.

You're spot on. Women I know won't see the film. They've seen and heard enough of Cruise.

Set up by himself, maybe. He shot himself in the foot far too many times and all the media had to do was film it.

Same here. I'm probably one of 5 women in the world who just doesn't get this Tom Cruise obsession. Pasty, average body, uni-brow, bad skin, coupled with mediocre talent and unjustified arrogance....what am I missing?

Tom Cruise was never going to be Olivier. He might have aspired to Paul Newman-dom. But he's not as good as Newman. Cruise has a couple of pretty good movies in his filmography. I liked Rain Man, and I really, really liked The Color of Money.

Cruise will just blame the problems on the interference of Lord Xenu.

It does for me. I've had it to here with Hollywierd and its stars. Movies are one of life's great pleasures for me, but I find I can no longer separate the bizarre off-screen behavior or repulsive political views of some "stars" from the films they're in. Thus my sh*t-list of actors whose films I will not watch grows.
It's a shame, but I refuse to contribute to the financial well-being of idiots.

I loved that old show, especially the lineup with Peter Graves, Martin Landau, Barbara Bain, Peter Lupus, and Greg Morris. The disguises, the technical gadgets, the precision timing, the teamwork, the grace under pressure. That was good stuff!

Im sure my pre-Cruise Katie Holmes crush is showing with this thought, but i have wondered about the whole narcissistic, coercive and secretive approach of scientology and how Tommy Boy, coupled with his age advantage, has used such leverage to seduce the young, naive girl from the midwest.

Please tell me if this is way out of bounds, but sometimes I see parallels between her situation and the Koresh-followers, and the Nike/Sweatsuit followers ala Heaven's Gate.

Is she happy or hoodwinked? And if youre her folks, do you take the joyride and seek some financial gain out of the thing or rescue her from what has become an out of control train wreck?

Coherent ramblings or should i up my own meds? Feedback appreciated!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe .. but Cruise has made a lot of "off the wall" statements lately .. and the movie-goers may be withholding their money.

I forgot about the fried placenta. That's a class act that he should have kept to himself.

Cruise has destroyed his career by revealing himself as a controller.

Most women hate controlling men, and more than that, he's weird. The mental picture of him abusiing a young girl like Katie Holmes leaves a bad taste.

I think a lot of women just aren't going to see his movie because he seems mean.

Make that 6. I never could see what his appeal was either. He's a no-talent, pretty-boy loon.
