[snip]
A committee said Monday that Duke University administration was slow in addressing the alleged rape involving members of the lacrosse team.

It said key administrators relied too heavily on initial reports from Durham police that the alleged victim "kept changing her story and was not credible."

I have to go out of town. But I do very much wish to raise this point and I'll just get this out now, and for your consideration.

Given that the DA Nifong has not only refused to see the evidence as presented by the Defense. Given that the AV is not credible. Nor was there a DNA match. Etc. Etc. Etc.

The very moment Nifong refused to see the evidence, I began seeing "mental health" warnings flashing before my eyes. Not about me. But about Nifong. Now, after 60+ interviews, trying this case by media, playing politics to get himself elected, damned near stirring up a race war, attempting to indict "Duke" via his bully pals at Duke.

Nifong suffers from delusions of grandeur. See, many people may not be aware of "mental illness" issues. It's like dealing with sociopaths -- they seem "normal and functional" on the surface but after a time, the pattern emerges that there is something seriously wrong with the person.

We already understand this about the AV. Kim, is just a playah.

I think Defense should think, seriously, about having Nifong mentally evaluated.

This case, Nifong says "not until I say so, maybe Spring, Maybe Fall" has two purposes: First it feeds his delusion as "king Harkonan". Second, I've no doubts, WHATSOEVER, that he'll use this case to EFFECT POLITICS for 2006 Election.

Now. The Duke boy's families are going to be having to keep these lawyers on a retainer. That's costly.

Given all the above, Nifong needs to be seriously evaluated. Not just for his competency as a "sane" attorney but I think he's established and certainly proven to me that he is a danger to himself and the community at large.

All excellent points. Much to ponder in this case.

Don't stay gone long, and have a safe trip.

I agree with you 100%. Before I got into corporate life, I worked for several years in the mental health field, and the people who appeared to be functioning well were often masking serious problems. Some of them fooled a lot of people.

I've already evaluated Nifong. I give him two thumbs down.

This probably has been reported, but it's worth repeating.

Which is just like her dad getting right the first time, which was when the media caught up to him a week or more after the event, and he knew nothing about his daughter being involved and that she looked just fine that next day when she stopped by and dropped off her car and kids. The same is probably true of Kim.

All these witnesses changed their stories after Nifong put his version of events out there, and they changed the stories to match what Nifong and Crystal say.

That's what is outrageous to me, too. This is a police matter, not a university matter. I don't think Duke had the right to suspend the lax season over this nor do I think they have this big burning responsibility to do anything in particular. If it had allegedly occurred on the campus, that would be completely different, but the party took place in a private residence off campus.

I don't know if she's really mentally ill or is just an underfunded narcissist. Her behavior is out of control, to be sure, but I don't think that means she's mentally ill. I think she just cries "Poor me - such-andsuch was done to me" anytime she gets in trouble or wants revenge against somebody. I'm not willing to let her off the hook with the mental illness excuse just yet.

Don't know if this has been posted already, but the Duke Police report is available on the Duke website. It is in PDF format. Click on the "Duke Police Operations Report of May 13 incident" (I think they mean March 13).

I don't think the guys or their families who are bankrolling the defense are going to cave and settle. I don't think they're going to give her a payday and sacrifice their futures. I think the lawyers understand that complete vindication is possible and they're going to go for it.

Yeah, but he must have been wrong because her father said she was beaten real badly and her leg was out of joint and the doctor couldn't pop it back into joint (all this after he said there was nothing wrong with her, lol!).

I guess Crystal's leg must still be out of joint, lo these seven weeks later.

I saw the show and I didn't think anything was confirmed, a hair, any kind of match, nothing. So far, all I see is Nifong blowing more smoke.

I don't think he's confident. I think he's just blowing smoke, none of which means he won't go for a third indictment. he may just keep indicting until the cows come home. In fact, I would not put it past him to dismiss against one or both of the current defendants and take more names to the GJ with the claim that Mangum has withdrawn that ID and made new ones.

I think the hair is as much of a red herring as the broomstick - media urban legend. i don't think any of them have a clue. Abrams has the best handle on the case and there's been nothing said on his show about a hair, as far as I know.

Yeah, the source of the entire rumor about the hair is the family, and we know how reliable they are, lol! What was said last week is that Nifong said something like "We may have good DNA news soon" to the family ina pep talk type of phone conversation.

So many questions.....and no answers. Here's an article concerning the city manager's response to the report.

______

I think so too. I was just reacting to posters who saw the show and reported what Megan said.

I tend to think Nifong is bluffing about the DNA being "good news" as well.
If he had good news on DNA why would he be wasting time
reinstating some minor charges against one of the team captains!!
