A committee said Monday that Duke University administration was slow in addressing the alleged rape involving members of the lacrosse team.

It said key administrators relied too heavily on initial reports from Durham police that the alleged victim "kept changing her story and was not credible."

I heard on the hourly local Radio news (680- WPTF) that the report also criticizes Duke for not having more input from NON-WHITE MEN on the actions to take in the days after the attack.

Seems the committee feels NON-WHITE MEN would've done the 'right thing' and proceeded with Punishment absent charges.

That ex-lax joke was in the Chronicle - Duke paper. Thanks for the pings. "Hey, LB" Saw the Lancaster coat of arms over the fireplace way too many times over the last couple of days. As for the news, very interesting. Will check back in a couple of days when I get back home. Please keep me in the loop!

Let's see,

1. This woman was rolling around on the floor in this house.

2. This woman was in the bathroom, possibly using the bath room in this house.

Are you surprised she had a hair on her? I am not. It better be a pubic hair and it better have been found in a pubic area, if Nifong hopes to make anything of it.

The DA gets back preliminary results and gets updates before the final testing report is issued.

Just like in the first DNA testing, Nifong was on TV saying The DNA, The DNA and how strong his case was.. Suddenly Nifong changed. He started downplaying the DNA on National TV. He stated before the results were released that he would proceed without DNA. He demonstrated on National TV (Abrams) how, consistent with the accuser's story, she could've been held and wearing a Jacket (like Nifong was) if as she struggled, there would be No DNA under the nails. Again, this was before the Testing was completed.

So, Nifong already has the info.
____

Well, I am not going to get over excited about this supposed DNA match until I know for sure, because Megan's sources last week for this story was the AV's father and another family member. Also Nifong has been full of it since day one of this case, constantly blowing smoke.

I guess we will have to wait and see.

Something Definitely Smells. You got that right.

They don't have to hand over the tests until the get the final report. IMO, the testing is done and the report is being compiled.

But, it's not making sense.

Oh Fer Cryin Out Loud. Bring on the Transgenders and Tranvestites -- they feel the pain of all people regardless of skin color and sex.

Next, bring on the Talking Myna Birds, then bring on..

The entire circus of the Socialist Left is being paraded into this case by Journalists in Search of a Story but while promoting an agenda.

Bring Back Barnum & Bailey. They were interesting. Spectacular.

Instead the MSM and the usual "Justice-Lite Types" are out to bore everyone to death.

First the Police officer that classifed her as "passed out drunk" didn't know how to evaluate someone for driking.

Now, On Greta Tonight (FOX), Jim Hammer is saying that she may have said there were 20 men at the party and 3 raped me.

Now, we have Police officers that can't read and write.

And trying to run over a Police officer is a JOYRIDE.. Got to love this media

Without full diversity, nothing can be accurate.

White people are incapable of making any decisions withOUT inherent bias..

We aren't with the program, obviously.

Having read the report in more detail, it really is just more garbage. Basically, they are saying that Duke did not respond quicker because leadership was too white, but then excused Brodhead because he did not know the race of the accuser. The whining in the report is unbelievable. Typical "it's not the truthfulness of hte charge but hte seriousness of the allegation." The report never even entertains the possibility that the LAX players may not be guilty of anything except bad judgment common for sollege kids. The significance of the report is the early police statements the accuser made that she was gang raped by 20 guys. A competent defense attorney will destroy this accuser's story. However, the self-flaggelation in the report is useless except at Faculty cocktail parties.

The report mentions in passing that the LAX team felt abandoned after Duke dumped Pressler for what turned out to be false grounds. Gee, why would the LAX team feel abandoned? Could it be because Duke made it appear to the world that every member of that team was guilty of gang rape or aiding and abetting a gang rape?

As an Alum, I am so frustrated with this situation it's ridiculous. Here's a suggestion: every Duke student must live on campus and report to their RA whenever they venture into Durham. This is not going to get better as long as the current Duke and DUrham leadership is in place.

Look at the N&O burying it under this Headline:

Report: Duke reacted too slowly to scandal

No mention of the 20 white men anywhere in the Hometown paper (near town - Raleigh).

http://www.newsobserver.com/102/story/437299.html

So now the Media spin is - it's DUKE's FAULT the WOMAN COULDN'T GET HER STORY STRAIGHT.

We should all HATE that institution by now.

Diversity solves everything it seems.

Committee (led by a Civil Right's activist): If they'd only had more people like us running this place, this would've never happened.

Talk about one-note Nanny's

Agreed, Utterly useless, but if you want to se why the number of men in higher education is in free fall, read silliness like this. What guy wants to get in the middle of that?

Can't wait for the report from this committee (Check out the title):

A fourth committee, called the Campus Culture Initiative, will submit by Dec. 1 its preliminary study of "the ways Duke educates students in the values of personal responsibility, consideration for others and mutual respect in the face of DIFFERENCE and DISAGREEMENT."

Mike Nifong was sworn in as District Attorney for Durham County.  He will inaugurate a family protection unit. [bold mine]

District Attorney Mike Nifong has a new plan he says should help Durham's growing number of abused women and children.

On Oct. 24, he will inaugurate what he calls a "family protection unit," headed by a veteran lawyer with years of experience in such issues: Jan Paul.

"Hopefully, this will be a signal that the DA's Office takes these matters seriously," Nifong told The Herald-Sun Wednesday. "We want victims to think, 'The DA's Office is looking out for me.' " .....

.....Paul has been an appeals referee for the N.C. Employment Security Commission since 1991. She also has been an attorney for the Durham County Guardian ad Litem Program*, which oversees the legal rights of children, and a clinical instructor at the Duke University School of Law Child Advocacy Clinic.

*Mmmm, who do we know in the Guardian ad Litem Program?

Mike Nifong District Attorney

Nifong claims he has never been threatened by anyone he prosecuted. Conversely, he was once thanked by a convicted rapist.

"He came to see me after he got out of prison," said Nifong. "He told me his life was really out of control, and I made him face up to it. He said he was a better man as a result.

"I always tried to treat my defendants with respect," Nifong added. "Of everyone I've tried, I could count the monsters on one hand. Everyone else was a regular person who had an anger-management problem or just snapped somehow. I never thought it was my job to make them less than human. I think treating people with dignity is an important part of being a DA."

Durham DA Blames His Office For Mistaken Dismissal Of Child Rape Case
District Attorney Insists Error Will Not Affect Case's Prosecution

POSTED: 4:31 pm EST January 16, 2006
UPDATED: 7:40 pm EST January 16, 2006

DURHAM, N.C. -- Durham County's district attorney says a clerical error is to blame for charges against an accused child rapist being dismissed by his office.

In February 2004, police arrested and charged Norman Brooks in the alleged molestation and rape of Bobby Parker's young daughter. But in September 2005, the charges against Brooks were dropped and the case was dismissed.

"This is clearly the fault of this office," said Durham County District Attorney Mike Nifong.

The case was originally assigned to Assistant District Attorney Tracey Cline, who was also handling another case against Brooks that was considered to be much weaker than the sexual abuse case. The district attorney's office was planning to drop the weaker of the two cases.

"In the course of entering the dismissal, inadvertently the wrong number was placed on the dismissal," Nifong said.

Then, Cline went on medical leave, and Parker was told that his daughter's case would be reassigned to Assistant District Attorney Jan Paul.

But when Parker called Paul last week, he said she told him that she was not aware of the case....
....Nifong said Paul had been assigned to many cases, but Parker's daughter's case was not one of them.

"Unfortunately, we made a second mistake," Nifong said......

The damage to Duke and to North Carolina is immeasureable. The fallout from this fiasco will continue for years. Why the board of trustees and the NC officials don't put a stop to this is a mystery. Perhaps they are waiting for graduation to get the Duke kids out of there before the rioting erupts.
