As an Alum, I am so frustrated with this situation it's

The damage to Duke and to North Carolina is immeasureable. The fallout from this fiasco will continue for years. Why the board of trustees and the NC officials don't put a stop to this is a mystery. Perhaps they are waiting for graduation to get the Duke kids out of there before the rioting erupts.

I don't know whether we have reached the rioting point if the case does not turn out the way some of hte radicals want it to. I do know Duke has allowed it to reach the point that the school and the community are best served by keeping the heck away from each other.

Sad, but some graduates may choose this year to take their diplomas by mail instead of attending the ceremony. Not that they are missing much. Fr. Hesburgh gave our commencement address and it was nothing more than dusted off civil rights speech from 1968.
