But, salaries haven't adjusted to inflation. So it remains very expensive.

It's still not nearly as bad as it was during the energy crisis during the '70s. Though at a progressive rate, it may be heading that way.

Gas in the US is still maybe half as much as it is in Europe. And we should feel lucky; a barrell of oil in some areas of Africa can run around 11,000 USD.

Yep. It's cheaper than it was in the early 1980's when benchmarked for inflation. This so-called energy Secretary calls this a crisis? Gime me a break. Gas lines in the 70s was getting towards a crisis but even that was manageable. It was dealt with it with less whining in my area of the woods than I hear now from the softies coming up the ranks now.
