So long as you allow me to post facts, like the DNC and PRC commmitments to Linux without slinging insults, which appears to be impossible.

...PRC commmitments to Linux...

Sure the PRC runs Linux:

Here's the Netcraft report.

BTW--what do you have against the Pregnancy Resource Center?

You know it's bad enough that you can't stick to the right facts; you can't even stick to one VERSION of the WRONG facts.

"Wow I thought better of you than to load some French O/S when prodded by Shadow dude and Flaming dude from hell. Oh well, probably won't work much better anyway, and some people must have more time than money."

I never denied assisting him with getting it running, but I never, as you put it, "prodded" him to "load" it. I did suggest he install Mepis, but not Mandriva. He'd already done that when I read his first post today.

But, I'm used to having you make up stuff to argue with, because you know if you stick to the facts, you're done.

"I really don't care..."

Nor have you ever, when it comes to facts.

"What I do have a problem with is the constant lies from the Linux pushers, which are always followed up by more lies."

And how many times have you proven that they are lies with concrete evidence (i.e., link to a post)? Nearly one?

"Cut out all the lying, and we might get along fine too."

Keep saying it, you might get someone to believe it. Apparently, dennisw didn't, despite the fact that you browbeat the poor guy with your propaganda and character assasinations of us from his first post.

Again, your childish stupidity and your hatefulness do more to promote the cause of Linux on Freerepublic than anyone I know. Thank you for that.

"So long as you allow me to post facts, like the DNC and PRC commmitments to Linux without slinging insults, which appears to be impossible."

OK by me, if you like the DNC and PRC so much. You certainly support most of their favorite orgs, like Planned Parenthood and the UN.

Have a good one, sweetie.

So FR is actually much less involved with Linux than was thought.

That's "if." All of the people I know who co-lo install and admin their own systems. That also forgets the fact that FR is programmed using an open source language of JimRob's choice.

I didn't say he was right.

Of course you wouldn't, even though he was right. Contrary to your claim, it is a fact that the GPL does not force anyone to release their Linux modifications.

I think you're addressing the wrong person in that argument.

Way #2: His ISP provides the server and maintenance of the OS with a managed hosting package,...

I don't think this is the case. A Netcraft query indicates a privately named nameserver and dns server. This indicates to me that he is running this on his own.

Good point, I didn't look that far.

So we know he's running his own systems. He's most likely capable of maintaining his own Linux box, and he was doing it way before it was popular to buy a Red Hat service agreement, so my bet is that it's home-built. He is running his own DNS servers. Since we know he already uses Linux, the DNS servers are most likely running the open source BIND on Linux.

GE, you find that JR is running open source and you're using it, and you're trying to rid yourself of the extreme cognitive dissonance you're experiencing.

I read a thread called History of Freerepublic written by JimRob himself...he mentions running on his own server several years ago, but never mentions changing over to a hosting service, so I assume this is still the case.

Robinson also said he wrote the software upon which Freerepublic runs, so I doubt if he'd have too much trouble maintaining a server himself.
