Accused Duke lacrosse player Reade Seligmann's attorneys want Durham County District Attorney Mike Nifong thrown off the case.
Today, they filed a legal motion specifically asking for it.
"DA Mike Nifong neglected his duty as a prosecutor to seek the truth and a fair prosecution," the defense's motion reads.
The motions were filed just 24 hours before Nifong's Tuesday election in which he's fighting to keep his seat. Nifong is being challenged by former prosecutor Freda Black and private lawyer Keith Bishop
The MSM were too busy doing pieces on the evils of "lacrosse culture" - underage drinking, public urination, excessive swagger - to notice the condition of the city.
Nah, your intention was quite clear.
That is a very good point. But since it's a Dem-run city, not unlike New Orleans, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for those reports, lol!
I really believe this case will be moved from Durham, and the defense will want a speedy trial, and maybe trial by a judge.
I guess the next big day is May 15th.
Good. Then don't refer to it as "nice." That hurts my feelings, lol!
Snarky or anyone
Has it been established if Crytal has a day job?
What is is? Where it is?
That's a good question...I do not know the answer.
As far as has been reported, no she doesn't. In an early interview with N&O, she stated she worked for the escort service. She stated it wasn't the greatest job in the world (now there's a revelation, lol!), but it paid well and supported herself and her two children on it. That strongly implies that she has no other employment.
maybe her work record isn't real good, especially after filing a police report against an employer who had the audacity to insist on her furnishing documentation of no criminal record.
You may be right, but here OakOak says Abrams says otherwise... Would you please source me someone saying other otherwise?
GALANTER: Well there are a couple of things. One is she was brought to the hospital by her boyfriend. I mean its not as if she was brought to the hospital by the police...
No, I won't. It's been posted numerous times. Please look for it yourself (I don't remember which all threads it was on) or be patient and wait for it to come up again.
There is an audio tape around here somewhere that was posted just last night that plays the entire dispatch conversation with the responding officers that concludes with their confirming their arrival at DUMC, and that's just one example. I don't remember if it was on this long thread or a separate thread of its own.
Keep in mind that Mangum was taken into custody for drunk in public. The cops don't just release somebody in Mangum's condition and who is in custody to an ordinary civilian, not even a family member. Mangum wasn't competent to be released. The cops have caretaker liability. Instead of taking her to the drunk tank (I'm guessing she passed the breathalyzer), they took her first to Durham Access. She then stated she'd been raped, so they took her to DUMC.
Galanter is wrong.
Thanks for the info. Although, I must say, with the price of Bay Area real estate, those folks who did own houses in E Palo Alto should have made out quite well. Had friends in SF who bought a little fixer-upper in a black neighborhood in the early 80's for $135k, sold it a couple of years ago for $850k. Not bad. I haven't actually checked out the area lately. I'd suspect there aren't many poor blacks left there. I could be wrong.
Also, isn't the fact that AV lied on an employment application at a nursing home, or some such thing, part of her history? She lied to get a day job and got fired?
The fixer-upper your friends bought must not have been in the heart of E. Palo Alto. The homes in Palo Alto go for around $800k to $2m, depending on the neighborhood and amenities. Real Estate values in E. palo Alto have no doubt increased because of redevelopment, but they don't bring anything close to $800k - more like half that or less.
Yes, she obviously lied. I'm guessing that nursing homes require employees to go to the NC dept. of justice or at least the local police department to obtain a copy of their criminal history indicating "No record found" or something like that. Since she couldn't furnish that, obviously, she probably kept putting her employer off and eventually they held her check or else told her she couldn't work until she furnished it. She filed a complaint with the sheriff over it. Pretty audacious, if you ask me.
Sorry if it misled, their house was in San Francisco.
You have been posting your opinions every night for weeks and then you run from any questions. Why don't you post when others can respond??
BTW...I don't care anything about your 'feelings'!!! Get a life!.
Check this statement out! http://talkleft.com/new_archives/014724.html
Mike Nifong, Durham County District Attorney, has won the Democratic primary election. Since there is no Republican candidate, he retains his job for another term.
Now that the election is out of the way, maybe he will have time to take a look at the defense photos showing Reade Seligman at the ATM machine at 12:24 am, a critical time period for the alleged rape.
That makes more sense. SF real estate is so high, it's mind-bogling. Supply and demand. Rentals are very tough, too, because of SF rent control and laws. Landlords have no rights at all, so properties have been selling to developers who refurbish the properties as single-family dwellings or knock down small apartment complexes and develop them as condos for sale. LOL! The socialists who made the laws there to protect tenants only have driven landlords out, which gradually reduces the total number of rentals, driving rents up. Serves the commie activist bastards right, lol.
I can't find what statement you're speaking of. Do you mean the, "Now that the election is out of the way, maybe he will have time to take a look at the defense photos showing Reade Seligman at the ATM machine at 12:24 am, a critical time period for the alleged rape."? I took that to be your own commentary. What am I missing? Thanks.
