Concealed Gun Holsters
4/27/06 | Cheryl

Posted on 04/27/2006 10:47:10 AM PDT by CherylBower

I need help. I am a relatively small woman who just received her CCW. I need a holster that is easily concealable. I was thinking an ankle holster or backpack/purse to carry it. Where would be a good place to buy something and does anyone have any ideas on what else would work better?

think about backpack purse carry really hard before you actually do it. if you're a small person, how well would you do in a snatch and grab on your purse? how would you access the gun if its in your purse? do you always have it close or do you set it on the floor in your car?
also take into account how you dress. do you regularly wear tight, skimpy outfits, or looser baggy clothes? skirts, shorts or pants?
your would do well to get more than one holster, so you can match it to your outfit, and use purse as a last resort. also, i don't see than anyone has mentioned thigh holsters. there are a couple companies that make "garter" holsters that are not only functional, but personally, i find them sexy as heck. and they work very well for under skirts and formal dresses.

I have one of these purses and it is wonderful. Mine has 2 zippered sections on the top, with other pockets inside. A cell phone pocket on the end and another zippered pocket on the front side. It also has a zipper, with a substantial lock, on the side opposite the cell phone. This zipper leads to a section between the two top sections. Inside is a holster. If you choose to keep a gun there, you will have no trouble with anything getting in the way, because that is all that you put in this section. I laughed the other day when a policeman carefully searched my purse, and never even noticed that pocket. (No, I was not carrying at the time, other than the holster that lives there)

Why was an officer searching your purse, Grammy?

I have a backpack with a back compartment that is accessible from either side that carries my .38, and also a not so easy access fanny pack that carries my .380.

I do prefer just to wear a holster when I'm driving, too much of a hassle to reach for a purse should something come up.

Go to "www.dillionprecision.com" for some nice accessories.

You're bad... although I suggested it to Eaker once when he was talking about a pistol grip Mossberg 500. :)

Oh, my. LOL

But I'm serious about the products.

Don't know if I would shove a Glock in there, but the holsters are good.

You may not have as much to lose (he said modestly).

In all honesty, I never could get past that safety-on-the-trigger thing.

There you go.

I'm afraid that's the way I would have to do it.

I really like wheel guns for concealed.

I got Mrs. Slim a Colt Detective Special. The flat type springs give a lighter and smoother trigger pull than the J-frame coil. Plus it has 6 rounds. A bit bigger, but still much smaller than a K frame.

I volunteered at a disaster drill, and all volunteers were searched before we got on the field.

Galco has nice thigh holsters just for women. They work best under a dress or skirt though, so if you are strictly a pants wearer, try a waistband holster.
