The Dragonflies Lair~Thread XXVII~
The Muses, Poets of the Lair | April, 24,2006 | bentfeather

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Fair then, this day,
Springtime's warm kiss has awakened
the first stirrings of summer,
the cold has had its goodnight busk and off to bed,
and the flowers hearken of sweet cherries to come.

Fair then, this season,
and what will I do next?
Weed my garden!

Nice poem Knitting.

It's good to spend time in the garden
after long months of grey skies and cold
gathering last years old remnants
making way for new beauty bright and bold
Spring's aroma filling the air
sneezing and coughing from pollens out there.

Your bridge picture made me think of it. Plus, my other computer, the one I use for graphics, is off because I'm leaving for Boston momentarily. Don't worry, I still have millions of dragonflies. :)

Later, Blessed Bent One!

Thanks to Paul Simon for such beautiful song lyrics.

Bridge Over Trouble Water

When you’re weary, feeling small,
When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all;
I’m on your side. When times get rough
And friends just can’t be found,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.

When you’re down and out,
When you’re on the street,
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you.
I’ll take your part.
When darkness comes
And pain is all around,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.

Sail on silvergirl,
Sail on by.
Your time has come to shine.
All your dreams are on their way.
See how they shine
If you need a friend
I’m sailing right behind.

Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind.

St. John's, Cambridge
by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I stand beneath the tree, whose branches shade
Thy western window, Chapel of St. John!
And hear its leaves repeat their benison
On him, whose hand thy stones memorial laid;
Then I remember one of whom was said
In the world's darkest hour, "Behold thy son!"
And see him living still, and wandering on
And waiting for the advent long delayed.
Not only tongues of the apostles teach
Lessons of love and light, but these expanding
And sheltering boughs with all their leaves implore,
And say in language clear as human speech,
"The peace of God, that passeth understanding,
Be and abide with you forevermore!"

A poets soul, from long ago.

Beautiful comforting words that glow
as sunlight filters through
stained glass windows in the glen.

Words of comfort for troubled souls
tend to make the inside glow
knowing that all is well in this heart
should I depart before the dawn
my God shall reconcile my soul in the beyond.

As are you.

No Coward Soul Is Mine
by Emily Jane Brontë

No coward soul is mine,
No trembler in the world,s storm-troubled sphere:
I see Heaven's glories shine,
And Faith shines equal arming me from Fear.

O God within my breast.
Almighty ever-present Deity!
Life , that in me has rest,
As I Undying Life, have power in thee!

Vain are the thousand creeds
That move men's hearts, unutterably vain;
Worthless as withered weeds,
Or idlest froth amid the boundless main,

To waken doubt in one
Holding so fast by Thy infinity;
So surely anchored on
The steadfast rock of Immortality.

With wide-embracing love
Thy Spirit animates eternal years,
Pervades and broods above,
Changes, sustains, dissolves, creates, and rears.

Though Earth and moon were gone,
And suns and universes ceased to be,
And Thou wert left alone,
Every Existence would exist in thee.

There is not room for Death,
Nor atom that his might could render void:
Since thou art Being and Breath,
And what thou art may never be destroyed.

Sissy's flight is on it's way,
back to the Motherland.
She's halfway home, but,
her heart is sad,
torn between kith and kin.

What a wench this parting is,
wanting home - yet - wanting to stay.
"Across the Pond" sounds close,
but, looms very large,
when it's an ocean away.

Ah! but we've consoled ourselves,
we're only 11 months apart.
The time will fly by, and,
April again will appear, so,
Never fear . . . dear heart!!!

Hope and Glory!

Wow such a wonderful surprise. ;)

Bitter sweet departing
long miles of separation
but heart strings hold
two together where
a mountain cannot withhold.

Lots of special memories will never be forgotten,
weaving thru' April like threads of cotton
such as,
baseball size hail crashing into the screens.
Don't come thru' the windows, please!!!
Our metal roof has nary a dent,
but please,
make it stop Lord, we feel quite spent.
The lattice on patio needs to be replaced,
plus window screens that look like lace
but,
other than that we're fortunate,
new screens and lattice seem to be the lot.
Oh sorry Kathy.
I quite forgot . . . it got the grapes
yes, the lot!!! . . . ;-)
