Well, the Rangers finally made the playoffs again after almost a decade. And what do we get? Only one of the most pathetic displays of post season hockey I have seen in a long, long time. Bad enough that they lost the first game to New Jersey 6-1. But now in the second game they just gave up a goal when they were on a 5 on 3 power play! That's right, they had a two man advantage and gave up a goal. Simply stunning. What the hell is to point of making the playoffs if you aren't even going to show up and make an effort.
I know Jagr is hurt and isn't playing today but still....
Anyway, if this "performance" doesn't prove that Jagr isn't, by far, the league MVP then I don't know what will. They never would have come close to the playoffs, and wouldn't deserve to, without him.
OK, I'm done with my little rant.
Hey, look at the bright side...you're not a Flyers fan. |
Giving up a goal with a 2-man advantage - you sure it's not the TEXAS Rangers who suited up tonight?
And I thought the Red Wings' loss to Edmonton yesterday was bad...
I'm just trying to figure out what is going on. I know that Jagr is great and things change when he isn't playing but this is ridiculous. It's as if the entire rest of the team forgets how to play when he isn't around.
I know he's good but I guess I just didn't think he was THAT good.
It's ugly. I've seen the Rangers embarass themselves quite a bit over the years but this, in the playoffs no less, has just taken it to a whole new level.
Want to see embarrassing? Watch Buffalo v. Phila. Forsberg, Knuble, Hatcher, Esche, et al, not to mention coach Ken Hitchcock, getting their collective asses kicked by Buffalo. |
I'm watching the Phillies.
hockey ping
I haven't been able to watch any of that series yet. I would rank the Rangers a little higher (or is it lower) on the embarassing scale though. Remember, all they had to do to win the division and lock up home ice in the first round was win one of their last 4 games, and they couldn't even gut out a tie.
Jagr (in my small mind) is the MVP. Period. And I'm a Flyers fan The Blueshirts beat the Flyers in the first game of the season, and it's been downhill ever since for both teams. |
I hate the Devils. Geez, I hate the Devils...
Sabres fan here, and tonite's game was getting so out of hand, I stopped watching after two periods.
As for the Devils, I'm not sure I would want to play them now...
I don't think anyone does. Go figure. They play in a barn, have crappy uniforms...and Brian Gionta. |
Hope that your team is doing well - unless they are playing my team. Is that crickets I hear from Dallas?
Freep mail/ping airborne or Hat-Trick if you want on or off the Hockey Ping List.
Jaromir Jagr in these playoffs could very well turn out to be the Eric Lindros from the 2000 playoffs. If you remember, the Flyers went up 3-1 on the Devils in the conference finals that year, then lost three straight games. Lindros missed the first five games of the series but came back for the last two -- and the Flyers played worse as a team when he was back in the lineup.
Jags or no Jags, the Rangers are 68.4% on the PK, 7.7% on the PP, with Weeks @ 4.00GAA/.840SV% and Lundqvist @ 6.00GAA/.800SV%. That just ain't gonna get it done against Broduer and a defense-first minded NJ squad.
Or a Stars fan.
Or a Stars fan.
Or a Stars fan.
Incidentally, who in the Eastern Conference wants to play the Devils? Maybe Ottawa, but probably no one else. And even Ottawa is only tied with the Bolts.
