Absolutely! This whole episode resembles a novel by Tom Wolfe, whose characters are primarily motivated by vanity. God, wouldn't Wolfe love that detail about Nifong getting fashion tips from Kim's lawyer?
He's been caught too many time offering assurances that didn't pass the smell test. I'm suspicious of this tox test too and that a date rape drug was used. If it was, and they can prove it, why wouldn't they shout it from the rooftops? Because as it stands now, I would think the majority of people understand these boys have been railroaded and Nifong is all about politics.
All Nifong said is that it was a possibility, and this was at the begining of the case, and we all know Nifong shot off his mouth before ANY investigating was done by the police.
I've just been rereading the classical definitions of Occam's Razor. I think it applies here, too...

Yep his two best pieces of evidence would have been:
1. DNA, taking DNA samples from the whole team with no probable cause could cost him all the DNA if any LaX players were guilty.
2. Victim ID, poor photo array techniques could cost him the victim IDs.
But this is not about conviction. He does not care about the stippers nor the LaX kids. He cares about himself and his reelection chances. He is irrationally reducing his reelection chances, but he probably thinks differently.
We'll know he's over the edge when he starts rattling the little steel ball bearings in hand. Heh, that's an idea. Maybe we should send him some bearings to use...
