Yep his two best pieces of evidence would have been:

1. DNA, taking DNA samples from the whole team with no probable cause could cost him all the DNA if any LaX players were guilty.

2. Victim ID, poor photo array techniques could cost him the victim IDs.

But this is not about conviction. He does not care about the stippers nor the LaX kids. He cares about himself and his reelection chances. He is irrationally reducing his reelection chances, but he probably thinks differently.
