OK, GUYS, LET'S S ROLL!!
I thought Maybe a good way to begin tonight's discussions would be for us to share about some of the best pranks and jokes that we either played on someone,(or someone played on us) when we were younger(or nowadays, for that matter)
Also, we could share about some of the crazy things we used to do, when we were younger(or perhaps still do) that were seen as fun at the time, but look foolhardy to us today.
I'll start things off, and share about one thing I did about 20 years or so ago, when I was 18-19. I would go on little "scenic routes" as I used to call them. (keep in mind that in 1986-87 gas was WAY less than $1.00 a gallon). Now, I did not just drive around aimlessly, but I had a friend named Paul with me. And Paul was a LOT more daring than I!! while I drove, Paul tossed bottles, cans, eggs and fireworks out of the car, mainly at road signs, but also at a few mailboxes. I egged him on, and thought it was a LOT of fun!! Paul conned me into believing that I was not doing anything wrong, since I was "just driving". (I just have to chalk that up to youthful stupidity...) In reality, I would had been the ONLY one to get into trouble had we been caught, because PAUL WAS ON HOUSE ARREST at the time, for a B&E that he and some others had been involved in , AND he was only 17!! SO, had we gotten caught,(and in early '87 we ALMOST did!!) I would had gotten the book thrown at me, for vandalism, littering, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and who knows what else!!
I'll reserve the stories about me messing with gunpowder, acid, gasoline, lighter fluid and fireworks for another time!!! (He....He... He..)
SO... Does anyone else care to share anything(that the statue of limitations has expired on !!) LOL!!

I have a Pioneer RT707 reel to reel tape deck. Bought it in the 1970's.
Do you know what they are? Low profile.
It has one channel that doesn't work.

Guns are an expensive hobby.
You can have an easy $1500-$2000 in one rifle and scope.
The last .45 pistol I bought cost $1100.

I could had done a lot worse. There were not many there for the swap(they could have came today, though as it was still going on today) another guy with the screenname Whell did a LOT worse(but he was local, too) than I did. I ALMOST sold everything I had at one time or another, including the thorens TT, the 9090, the sony and pioneer amps, and the 2 Pioneer receivers. ALMOST!! Those "bites" did not turn into "catches", though!! Most of it went home with me.
Bummer. Yeah, there is some, mostly non electronic stuff i need to unload, I might go with my buddy, he sells things at flea markets. I am the home for some electronic stuff as well, if I get anymore, Mom will kill me. B-) My theory, I could be off, is fuel prices could be biting into people buying things, but then again, that's why people go to flea markets and swap meets, to find good deals on used stuff.
I'll try on the swap thread or maybe on Ebay to sell the rest, I guess.
Couldn't hurt.
ON the AK (Audiokarma.org) site, there is a slideshow of the fest, and after all of the pictures of fancy, super-expensive equipment, is a picture of my swap table. it has about a dozen pieces on it. I am NOT in the picture, though.
I'll have to take a look after I'm done going thru the various threads.

How many guns do you have?
To: Supernatural
Is it the one that is rack-mountable, rather short(top to bottom) and silver-faced??
There are guys on that site who live by RtR tape decks!!

Yes, it is rack-mountable and short and silver. It is a fine deck.
I had it hooked up to a dbx noise reduction system. Have Bose 901 speakers and a Mitsubishi 150 watt per channel amp that sounds really good.

I have about 40 guns.
The last rifle I bought cost me almost $4000. It has two barrels and two expensive scopes, one for each barrel.

Sony made some really good tape decks too.
When I got mine another real good one was a Revox.

I've been out of the audiophile market for a while, but Nakamichi and Tandburg were also excellent brands.

Nakamachi made one of the finest, most revered cassette decks ever produced, called the nakamichi dragon. In about 1983, it cost about $2k.
And tandburg also made some good equipment, back in the 'day(which ended in about 1985 or so, after which most non-super high-end audio went to the BPC, cheap, junk common today, with lots of flashing lights, digital features, remote, and all but these can usually be picked up with one hand, and weigh less than 30 lbs--(some of the good receivers and amps in the day weighed from 50-120 lbs!!) kinda like the Fiero-- a "pretty face, with nothing behind it")

Nacamichi always got the highest reviews for sound quality in the audiophile magazines. They were high priced, but some of the European stuff was much more expensive.
Bang & Olufsen for one. Ever hear of them?

The more expensive equipment was always solidly build back in the old days. You could tell a good piece of equipment by working the controls. They felt tight and you knew the stuff was built to last.

Yeah, I have. They made a lot of fancy-looking receivers and TT's, and such.(like the beomaster.) They tend to be sought after by many in the audio world. But I like normal-looking audio equipment more.

You missed out on the eight-tracks.
The specs were lousy but that was all we had for a while.
They even had quadrophonic eight-track tapes. Of course, you needed four speakers in your car.
60's and early 70's stuff. It kept us somewhat entertained.

I vaguely remember casette tapes. By the time I had like five of em, people started switching to CDs so it didn't last very long.
