Yes and no, Enterprise was starting to get good when it got cancelled.
The problem I always had with Star Trek was it's high gold to cr*p ratio. For every "City on the Edge of Forever" type episode which blew you away, you'd pay for it with a ridiculous episode about space hippies or the like. This pattern occured to a greater or lesser extent on all of the Star Trek series.
Compare this to a show like Babylon 5 which had less "great" episodes, but which was consistantly "good". (I can't think of a B5 ep which was a true stinker).
Nevertheless, the Star Trek universe has so much depth to it that I would love to see a new series in a few years.
No, not really. I watched the original series until the images were burned into my retina. The Next Generation never really matched with my schedule in college and grad school, so I only watched it occasionally. After that I kind of gave up.
Nope. BSG has filled that void for me.
I am watching Enterprise again on DVD. I'm about 1/2 way through season 2 right now. There are several episodes that seem better the 2nd time around, but far to much tripe. Last night I watched "Vanishing Point" which was an interesting one that I must have missed the 1st time around.
Tonight on SG-1 they are rerunning "Ripple Effect" the alternate universe episode from Season 9. 16 Samantha Carters in one room. Feel the blonde brain power!!!
I think the reason for that was that B5 had a story arc by Straczynski. The series had a direction to go in and most episodes were important on that path. Even if someone else wrote the episode, Straczynski was involved. Compare that to Star Trek where it seemed that all the everything had to be reset to its original condition at the end of every episode. Sure you could kill off a red shirt or two, but you never saw them before the episode and never would have seen them later anyway. You could play Star Trek in any order and they would make just as much sense. If you get B5 episodes out of order you might go mad.
B5's biggest problem was the season 4/5 crash, where it looked like there wouldn't be a season 5. Thus the story had to be crammed into the end of season 4.

I'll unabashedly say, yes. I thought it was too bad that Enterprise was cancelled - I thought it had plenty of possibilties for several more seasons of shows. It had some interesting characters and plot lines. Ah, well, what can you do?
As for Dr. Who, I love the new guy. His "We're all in grave danger!! FANTASTIC!!" attitude is great. His side kick doesn't do anything for me but she'll do. Hopefully the new guy they picked up from a future Utah will add something more to the equation. All in all though, I think it's quite good. Very much in spirit with the original series.
I miss Farscape, Red Dwarf, and Firefly.
I love sci-fi! Here is a list of my pet-peeves after years of viewing different shows. I wish they would change some storylines sometimes...:
1) No more "evil double" stories. (BSG is forgven considering the robot doubles running around)
2) No more "I'm invisible and no one can see me but I am not dead so I can hear what everyone thinks of me" episodes.
3) No more "I am getting old and will die of old age within and hour but I will get cured byt the end of the show" episodes.
4) No more "I have been possesed an alien/spirit and for a little while to use your body as a vessel" espisodes.
5) No more "I wake up in a dream and think its my reality (lasting days or years) only to find out at the end that it wasn't real" episodes.
I miss Babylon 5, then I miss Deep Space Nine.
I miss BSG, but I know October is coming (slowly).
I don't miss Trek.

You can get your Summer Glau fix this Saturday on Sci-Fi in "Mammoth". Sure to be another horrible Sci-Fi original, but you can turn the sound down.
You forgot everyone sitting around the table discussing something and each part of the conversation leads to a "remember when this happened?" and then you get to rerun segments?
Summer is okay, but too young...give me the redheaded grifter chick...
Yeah, redheads. Can't beat 'em. That scene where she knocked out Mal with her poison lipstick was one for the ages. The Madame at the brothel was hot too. Heck, they were all hot.
another question-- when will SG1 Season 9 come out on DVD?
I loved that show and couldn't believe it when a network (big three) aired it originally. I marveled at the music, storyline, the WOMEN, and even the guys were likable (remember the WKRP guy?)...shoot, it was good. I bought the collection when it came out and have Serenity also...
