The Hobbit Hole XXIX - Until the stars are all alight...

Posted on 04/20/2006 2:10:46 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Until the stars are all alight

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

How long does it take to get tanned in a salon?

I think she is doing short sessions like 5 minutes at a time but every day. As for how long it takes that depends on how tan you get... but I really don't know.

And how long does the tan last?
Depends on how dark you get and how much sun you keep getting after that. When I have had a REALLY dark tan from working construction jobs for a summer It had not faded 100% by the next year.

You guys see that someone is out there working on the line?

Hope he's able to fix it.

I've got basil, dill and cilantro that are big enough to use a bit, though still very small. Can't wait for more dill...I use that in a LOT of stuff. It's even good added to omelets, IMO.

Still waiting on oregano and chives. I do have the volunteer mint - that's going like gangbusters, but mint always does.

Gonna go try to find the library...maybe that'll cheer me up. Hopefully they'll let me get a card, despite not haivng a local license yet.

I've got lots of flat leaf parsley but the bunnies keep pruning them....it's all the bunnies' fault! I've got some fennel up, but it's not growing very fast.

You might need a local bill to prove residence. I think I had to do that once for a library.

Yeah...had that covered. It's what I had to do in FC too.

So...I'm all library carded and that. And have a small stack of books. Not the biggest library, but they have a pretty decent collection of mysteries, at least, including the *full* collection of everything Agatha Christie ever wrote - everything. Gotta give 'em some credit for that.

If I'm gonna take advantage of their movies, though, I need a VCR.

Did you go to Tumwater, or Olympia Library?

Just the Tumwater one - it's across from the school...or a school. Which one has the Thunderbirds as their mascot?

Same card works for all the ones in the area, though, so that's nice.

The whole concept makes no sense to me ... but, if you want to tan, what's wrong with the sun?

Well, I am naturally about a shade whiter than my wedding dress and I want just a little bit of color. And the tanning parlor is because I don't wear necklines and backs like the dress has most of the time and I can't be bothered to spend hours and hours outside in a bathing suit ;-)

OK - It's across from my high school :~D

The one downtown Oly would be bigger, probably. Haven't been to either one in years!

Well...I *could* just be lazy and request stuff from that library. They'll let you put holds on stuff at one and pick it up at another.

Most of the time I'm not looking for anything specific, so a limited selection isn't a huge deal. If I *am* looking for something specific, half the time I'd rather buy the book used anyway.

It is not as fun to go on a long bike ride with a picnic lunch with your sweetie and then be a scorched cinder the next day.

Other than the bit about being a scorched cinder, that sounds like fun. Do you know anyone who might like to do something like that anytime soon?

You know... we could borrow my folks' bikes and go down to the short little seven mile trail in Greensburg over the 4th... grab a sub on the way... so long as you don't mind me being quite a bit slower than you're used to....

He was digging all over trying to find the source of the water. Maybe he fell in the hole. :~)

We did have that kind of quicksandy weird area....

Doesn't appear to be fixed, though. Hope that isn't as good as it's gonna get.

*sigh*
