Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Until the stars are all alight
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

The spaghetti squash and cucumbers are up! No sign of the pumpkin yet and I'm wondering if thedangedsquirrels dug up and ate the seeds.
I might pull up all the turnips and plant more beans today.

Jen, why are you going to a tanning parlor? The whole concept makes no sense to me ...White people are funny that way :~D
<snicker> Further deponent sayeth not.
But, seriesly, why tan? Why not just let your skin be whatever color it is? Jen, I've met you, and did not feel you were abnormally pale.
And, Hair, I had no idea it was so important to tan all over ...
Now you've done it ... I'll be writing about a really pale character who has a nudist streak ...

Well it looks really dumb at the beach to be wearing a bathing suit with your farmer's tan showing.
To: Overtaxed
But can't you lie in the sun in your swimsuit?
The character's name is Helaine, and she's a nudist ... Helaine's roommate is the heroine of the story, though ...

Yeah, but that doesn't get the yard work done. :)
And what happens if you want to change your bathing suit style?
To: Lil'freeper
I think the bunnies are nipping off all my marigold buds....at least they look bunny-nipped.
To: Overtaxed
More time in the sun!
How long does it take to get tanned in a salon? And how long does the tan last?
I think Helaine is gonna be a murder victim ...

Heh... reminds me of the last time I went in for a checkup... the doctor asked, as he was holding the stethoscope to my back, "You don't get much sun, do you?"
To: Rose in RoseBear
Pale people don't look good in white!

And, Hair, I had no idea it was so important to tan all over ...
Tan lines bad :~D

Thanks! Sore and tired and lazing around here. That race was a bunch of fun.
Took me an hour and 39 minutes. I think I was something like 218th place. hehe. Ah well, my only goal was to finish.
To: Rose in RoseBear
It is also a preventative measure. It is not as fun to go on a long bike ride with a picnic lunch with your sweetie and then be a scorched cinder the next day.
To: TalonDJ; JenB
Talon, I thought you just finished a long bike ride!
When is this long bike ride/picnic scheduled to take place?

I remember after I finished my marathon...on a Saturday...I went to school that next Monday and my teacher passed me on the stairs (two flights up, no elevator). I was literally (and I mean quite literally) pulling myself up using the hand rail. My teacher (who was the husband of a friend of mine...I knew them socially) grabbed me by my arm and lugged me up the stairs!
Later that day I went to the track and found my coach. (I had hired a coach through my health club, which I only joined so I could use the treadmill to train during the summer.) I walked across the field, very very slowly. My legs literally wouldn't bend. Gave her a $100 tip and never saw her again.
The next day (Tuesday), I ran a 5K training run, two days later, I ran a 10K training run (in other words, very slowly, cautiously).
That next Saturday, Steve and I ran the
River City 10 Miler in Austin. All my friends that had trained for the marathon with me were cheering from the sidelines.
I sure used to love to run.

Running. Ungh. I'd rather walk 15 miles with a backpack than run one. Seriesly.

In my case, I can burn lobster red and be white again in about three days.
Maybe it's part of why I've never gotten the whole appeal of tanning. Seems silly to me...but I wasn't gonna say anything.
