New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red, |

Still round the corner there may wait |

Home is behind, the world ahead, |

It has evolved so much... the heroine is my... hmmm, not my alter ego, and she's not much like me, but she's part of me somehow. She's the real 'Jen', I stole her name for my online persona years back. The problem with the story is the setting... it started out as part of a fanfiction and it doesn't work without magic - bits of the story would work in any setting but the really interesting, to me, bits require magic.
At this point it's about a young woman who has disjointed visions and premonitions of the future, and it makes her incredibly fatalistic so she accepts whatever she believes is destined, and a young man who hates the role his important father has laid out for him so he fights whatever he is supposed to do. They're on opposite sides of the political structure of their planet, which happens to be the most important after Earth because all the ships in the human dominion are built there and only the natives of Destiny can fly the ships. What outsiders don't know is that Destiny is where the magicians went and the spaceships are powered by magic. I'm reversing Clarke's Third Law and postulating that magic is indistinguishable from advanced technology.
Of course the hero and the heroine are star-crossed lovers, her because she believes it's their destiny and him because it will make his father angrier than anything else he can think of, but it develops over time into a real partnership which is sealed when the heroine is mortally wounded. The only thing that saves her is the hero sharing his life with her - literally; now if one of them is killed the other will die instantly. And then it gets complicated when the hero is framed for mass murder and sent to an asteroid prison for years, and even his wife believes he did it - blew up a new prototype spaceship and killed hundreds of people, including his younger brother.
It's a really complicated story I've worked out in various attempts and in fact my NaNo story from two years ago has some of the same elements - the two main characters are the same people, it's just the setting and plot were totally different. I realized halfway through that November that I needed a science fantasy setting to tell the story.
That's the kind of information that ALL members should receive, not just those in the 'in group'. Some families can't make every event, and like to pick and choose among activities. Having some sort of e-newsletter that goes to everyone, like 2J does for her group, would seem to be a very important way to facilitate that.
Whoa. That sounds really good, Jen! You ~need~ to write it now.
Evenin' everyone. :-)
Does it work?
Just so long as they don't camp here...I *just* got the grass to grow back where the gypsies lived...
*sigh*
I think Cisco has an ear infection. He's shaking his head and crying and trying to rub his ears against the floor. And they smell a little funny, like Jo-Jo's used to when she had ear troubles. The right ear is a bit red inside...could be just the one, I suppose, but probably it's both.
I'm not ~that~ drunk.
Yet.
Well, I've got some of the wash, but not the antifungal...
You could go get some Gynelotrimen if you don't want to go to the vet :~) - it's about the same stuff!
I have to say, however, Joseph has always been very forward with his opinions, and he was in school from K thru 5, so homeschooling certainly didn't do it. It's just his way. He's never ugly or mean, but he'll sure offer his opinion, whether requested or not. Can't imagine WHERE he gets that! ;o)
Where would they have gynewhatemin? Or is that...oh wait. I think I got it. Err...
But I guess it *is* about the same type of infection, no?
Hope this isn't going to become yet another reoccurring thing. What with the cats' eye deal...I'd rather not have yet another chronic condition to treat! I still have to take Tam in...his eyes are bad again.
It exactly the same kind of infection :~)
I think yeast infections are just something you manage with dogs in summer. I've used gynelotrimin on Logan before, and it worked just fine, and it's cheaper. Otherwise, if you end up at the vets, just buy the biggest bottle they have of both the cleaner and the antifungal and plan on keeping the leftover. Definately treat both ears.
Can you buy Gynelotromin off the shelf, or do you have to ask for it?
Maybe I should run out and get some this evening rather than making him wait.
I was pretty annoyed about it the whole morning, but it cheered me up immensely to know that Aly only had to put up with it for another week.
:-)
Should be right on the shelf... which is nice, it used to be prescription. I guess they finally figured out the street value of the drug was nil :~)
.... and any of the brands are about the same.
Cool...makes life easier.
I guess I'll go try to find some. He was shaking his head a bit last night and kept waking me up, and it's worse now. Poor baby...
Oh - make sure you get the cream, I don't think the suppositories would work :~)
I'd clean it and goop it tonight and tomorrow, then maybe just one more time and he should be good.
Come over and get the cleaner stuff, I've got enough left in a bottle.
Why, thank you! But it's a complicated story and I'm not sure I've lived enough yet to write it.
Some days, this whole one-stop-shopping business is overrated.
Great Picture and very appropriate.
"You may fire when ready, Gridley"
Just got back from the dogpark. Had a young ACO checking licenses. At least one dog (and owner) turned around when they saw her. Sheesh, folks, it's a five dollar city license (and a $25.00 fine). Naturally, rabies tags are required. Still...
It's not the $5... it's the Man, trying to keep us down :~D
