The Hobbit Hole XXIX - Until the stars are all alight...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 04/20/2006 2:10:46 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Until the stars are all alight

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Don't think so, it's not a laser sight, just an illuminated red dot in the tube. I think it's like the one Talon had on his .22 at shootmoot.

Well...I as long as I can hit the target...

I don't think I'm going to have much of a bean crop. They get bunny-pruned as soon as they push though the soil.

I put out more okra plants.,,,this time with screening around them so (hopefully) they won't get the bunny treatment.

I'll have to do hanging vegetable gardens just to keep the little varmints out!

Maybe she's waiting for Ruthy to get here before she puts on a bigger show? ;-)

Thanks for the tip about the Fred Meyer flowers...I may go try to find some nice annuals for both by the gate and in front amidst where there may or may not be Cosmos someday. It would tidy that front area up a bit.

I love my flowers...

I just spent three hours looking for sunflower seeds. Why they didn't buy them back during high planting season, I don't know, but after seven different store visits, I am successful.

Heh....got slugs eating muh marigolds.

They must have done a great write-up on my place in the "Dining Out" section of Varmint's Gazette.

Yeah, they're hopefully going to be decorations for the reception and we had to wait until 90 days before the wedding (which is approximately now-ish) to plant.

Planting them in the yard for now... I have lots of ideas about how to use them. They'll be really neat, at least, and go with the whole picnicy theme.

Oh - so you'll cut them for the reception. I was picturing you packing these big ole sunflowers in pots out to the reception :~D

I need to find the battery charger for my camera batteries so I can use the thing again!

I did try to take pictures awhile back, but was too embarrased by the other-than-flowers to post...weeds and all. Which is silly, I suppose. I'd really like to show the pansies, for one. They're just blooming like crazy! And the petunias aren't far behind.

Got some new petunias for by the front gate. Can I borrow some wire to put new hanging parts on 'em? Ungh...and I still can't find the brackets. I guess maybe I should spend the rest of the day trying to organize the *inside* of my house. Isn't nearly as much fun, of course.

Hehehe... no... that would be fun, but not really. I'm thinking just cover the tables with white cloths and then scatter flowers down the middle.
