The Hobbit Hole XXIX - Until the stars are all alight...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 04/20/2006 2:10:46 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Until the stars are all alight

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Evening Corin, Those are great pics and it looks like Luke is doing very well. which did he like better, the M-16 or the HK? I notice he favors a two handed grip with the sidearm and makes use of a rest, when available. Think he ready for Shoot-moot II?

It sure can be... I can give you some links tonight or tomorrow night if you want, depending how late I get back from the airport.

At least we have a long day left of this smoochmoot. Last night was fun! We even have some pictures. Just not of any of the fun stuff.

I put fertilizer down in most of the veggie beds...and the ferns. I didn't get to do the "front" yesterday.

Miss Cat is enjoying thesunroom. I'm watching Chuckie kick some Moor butt.

It has been raining for the last two days. Friday night came a HUGH thunderboomer. Clare and I were on our way to a dinner for the Seniors in her Girl Scout troop when the bottom fell out. It was raining horizontally, and there were waves blowing across the parking lot of the restaurant. It only lasted about 5 mins. though, then it slowed down. There were several VEY close bolts of lightning on our way, though, and on the way home, we saw that power had been knocked out in at least one large part of town.

Yesterday was just a steady rain all day long, and they're predicting more this afternoon. That's ok, though, because I'm conducting chemical warfare on the weeds in the back yard tomorrow, and the ground will be well saturated, as the directions suggest.

Just got back from my walk...the squirrels around here act like they've never been popped by a BB gun.

The water guys were out with a backhoe, lots of gravel, and plenty of orange cones. The boards on the bridge over the drainage canal are being replaced and some fool's out there mowing wet grass.

Time for second breakfast!

Mornin', all!

Heading to church in a sec...then hopefully I can find a place to get a good portion of my hair hacked off...

Everything's wet again. Guess it's good I did what little mowing I did do yesterday, and it was really too wet then.

I got my to-baccy planted...along with some impatiens and marigolds. It's race/ game time so I'll leave the planter box until later.

Wonder if my country ribs are thawed yet.
