Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Until the stars are all alight
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Sounds like something that would exist in the same world as nerf herders.
But what *is* a snarf?

Walker, Texas Ranger.
I think Lizabeth is a Special Ranger. And I think she'd rather hold her hand in an open flame rather than go to Apache Springs ... again ...

She gets a badge and everything. At her stepfather's behest, she joins a task force investigating a serial killer. She winds up falling in love with a suspect, the eyepatch-wearing police chief of Apache Springs.
Rosie, when are you going to submit one of your stories?

I really don't have anything done enough to submit, sadly. I finished my NaNo novel the first year, but it's not even resurrectable, though I may steal a few of the characters someday. The only other year I finished, it was a totally self-indulgent kinda fake journal...nothing publishable. ;-)
Other stuff is mostly bits and chunks, some better than others.
To: Rose in RoseBear
Maybe by the end of the year I'll have something...if I don't just goof off. I'm a master of procrastination and slacking.
To: Overtaxed
My marigolds are all blooming now! Dunno what happened at first.
Now if I could just get the geraniums hung by the gate, and maybe even put more hanging pots by the door...
You can't have too many flowers. Er...almost.
To: no one in particular
I'm thinkin' everyone else has a Friday night life...
Oh well. Got tunes. Got story. Got a dog that thinks I'm great. Who could ask for anything more?
To: RosieCotton
Not really a life, just a loooong drive back from the airport. Talon got here though so it's just fine with me :-)

I think that qualifies as a life...

I'm a master of procrastination and slacking.Oh, and that's utter frap. Look at all the wonderful things you've done with your place! And in such a short time!
Let's us both pledge that this is the year of the NaNoSubmission. We write something that we fully intend to submit for publication. In December, we write synopses and query letters, and in January we start mailing submissions and the first three chapters, while we spiff up the rest of the manuscript.
You think?

Well...so long as it isn't the NaNo novel for this year that I gotta try to get done...
I dunno...the whole process just seems scary to me! But I do intend to pick up a used copy of Writer's Market one of these days to do some reading up on possible publishers and stuff. Might also help me decide what I want to attempt if I do anything "real".
To: Rose in RoseBear
I wanted to try last year, and then I got... distracted. This year might be similarly bad timing. You ought to go for it!
Anyway if I wait at least a little longer I can have a more interesting name to publish under.

Mornin' folks.
Stayed out way too late last night. I went with my sister to a friend's house and played Texas Hold 'Em until midnight.
I didn't win a single hand, but since we were just playing with chips it didn't matter. :-)
Now I'm trying to get motivated to tackle the girls' room. Let the final Great Toy Purge begin!

Morning OT, All: back from the dogpark; several doxies, one longhair; beautiful young german shepherd, couple of not sure.
Gypsygirl made it through the pipe several times (we used the old toss treat into tunnel trick) so she might make a connection with that one.
OT, we found one of your littlebittybunnies at our place, do you want to come over and get it? Or should we keep it for awhile?
