Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Until the stars are all alight
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

And I'm excited for you! Thanks! I've had fun so far digging out old maps and planning out the adventure my characters will have. One of them already got cut because his story arc wasn't working out. He might be back in the crew if I come up with something.

mornin'....I'm back...
It was too late to post comparision pictures last night. I'll try to tonight. However, in the "gee, I really wish we had a camera, but who brings a camera to a cemetary" moment, yesterday there was this ~
My dad's parents and most of his siblings (and spouses) are buried all in the same general vicinity on a hill at the cemetary. So, we were there yesterday with (more or less) all the family.
While we were standing around talking afterwards I noticed Luke counting the stars on the flag on my dad's grave.
When I looked back, he was kneeling in front of the flag and saying the Pledge of Allegiance.
All bets for dry eyes were off at that point.

You got yourself a really special kid there. But you know that. ;-)
Note to self...staying up on a weeknight playing Age of Empires until nearly midnight when there's a perfectly good weekend just around the corner...isn't really a good idea.
To: Corin Stormhands
Yes, a moment for teary eyes for sure. Thanks.

I was looking for my little lost chihuahua mix two nights ago (found him at 03:00, he was fine, but thirsty), but at one point had decided to check out the nearby fox dens, in case he'd been injured fighting the foxes, whom he hates, and was lying in the brush needing help.
But Hair, I'd never gone in the fox dens, I was shocked at what they have...great halls, ante rooms, passages, secret egress and ingress, what an amazing manse they have built for themselves amongst the uprooted and downed mango trees covered with vines and surrounded by chest high grass. It goes on and on, there is plenty of room for humans in it, as long as they stoop. The place reminds me more of Darrowdwell than Buckland Hall (or Took Hall, I forget now exactly what). I could hear one of the foxes moving away as I trespassed on their property at 2:00am, hacking with my machete at times to find a way through. I caught him in my flashlight beam at one point, not far away. He didn't look so ticked at me, more bewildered; anyway, I don't believe I messed up their place too much.

Heh - very cool, I'm surprised you could fit inside!
There was an old hole under a fallen tree root system behind our house where we grew up, people said it was a bear den once, at least that's what the kids all believed. It was scarcely big enough for a kid to fit inside, though.

I dunno if it's the new one...it's version II, which comes with some extra disc.
As a side note, since I have two optical drives in this system...I accidentally discovered that it'll still run with the disc in the drive I *didn't* use to install it, but will play music off the CD in the original drive. Makes for a really weird soundtrack.
To: RosieCotton
Heh, nuttiness from programmers that did not think about how it would work with two drives :P
What is this? A legit precious?
