Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Until the stars are all alight
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

We have a bunny who loves our yard because he knows the dogs on either side won't bother him. On one side, the dog stays in mostly, and when out is very good about staying in the yard. On the other side, the dog has an electric fence, so she stays, too. The bunny just hops around eating various and sundry vegetation at his leisure.
I was out in the back yard raking a few years ago, looked up, and there was a bunny no more than 10 feet from me. He wasn't scared because he know I wasn't going to hurt him. Whenever I see one, I'll call to him and say, "Hello, Mr. Bunny". He's cute, but of course, I don't have any veggies that he's bothering.;o)

I've known enough wiccans to find the whole skyclad thing very, very scary.
Ugh, long day, didn't solve anything, and it's soooo hot here, I'm melting. 97 degrees and muggy.

and it's soooo hot here Alas. It was only mid-80's here but we have no AC at work and an office full of computers throwing off heat. Ugh. I'm happy to be home.

Ugh! At least I have a nice cool office all day.
Grr. Went to run at the high school track and it's closed today for graduation set up - and closed tomorrow for graduation. How rude of them to interfere with my workout plans ;-)

Freeper stm left a (well-justified) vanity about him shipping off for Iraq for a
third time. The Hobbit Hole could not let that kind of patriotism and service go unacknowledged. So I went through my stash of "unadvertised specials" (your generous contributions finance that, too), and came up with an Ontario RAT-7, a fine knife for an infantryman.

He leaves for training on June 3, so I mailed the knife, along with a Camillus Rescue, and some safety carabiners. I received this frmail reply:
Thank you so very much for your gratitude and your generosity. In today's world, not that many people really have a true appreciation of what kind of a sacrifice service to our country entails. I was not home for my first daughter's birth. I missed her HS graduation. I barely made my second daughter's birth. I was gone for the majority of my wife's pregnancies. Time of course I can never get back.
But on the positive note, I was doing something that mattered; helping to preserve the freedoms we have enjoyed for over 225 years.
Thank you again and God Bless you and all the Freepers!
That knife can't possibly ever be a sufficient expression of thanks, but it's the best we can do, along with our prayers.
Thank you, stm. Stay safe, and stay in touch.

Thank you for your service, stm, and come back to us safe. You'll be in our prayers.

Eeek! The new visitors are...kind of alarming when one isn't expecting 'em!

That's not what I meant by "visitors", chica. ;-)
winmag - that's a beauty of a knife! Perfect for a FReeper Hometown Hero like stm!

Something red and nicely dry?
Heh...personally I'm OK with any chocolate, and most wines. But dry reds do seem to complement dark chocolate. IMO, of course. I know nuffin.

To: RosieCotton
Ooohh...that's what I've got!
I don't care much for white chocolate. The darker the chocolate, the better I like it.
...and I'm rather partial to red wines.
