New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |

Still round the corner there may wait |

Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Mornin' everyone.
Oh Rosie! Bummer about the phone, sis. :-(
From my experience with Verizon, they'll give you a deal on a new phone if you renew your contract with them.
If you planned on switching carriers anyway, this might be a good time to do it.
Food bowl is on the floor just inside the door.
Thanks! I'm not planning to stay super late tonight, but it might be seven or so.
Just kill the thread on your way out, won't you? ;-)
Do you know who would have those mosquito dunk thingies in stock? Home Depot doesn't carry them.
Afternoon OT. I would try either Earl May or Ace Hardware. LSA has seen 'em in Earl May and I'm pretty sure I saw them at Westlake's Ace.
"Why do we wants to dunk our mosquitos" came to mind. :-)
Lowe's has them... as does our local MFA and feed stores...
Aren't mosquitoes better dunked? :)
I want to put up a bird bath to go with the bird feeder only I don't want to attract the bloodsuckers. There's an Ace hardware on the way home (well..at least one). The nearest Lowe's is in Shawnee Mission. Might have to make a trip.
OT, unless you are getting a huge un-tippable birdbath you really don't need those dunker-thingies. The birds will drink the water, splash it out, and generally foul it up such that you'll be filling/changing it once or twice every day or so. If you happen to miss a couple of days, well, the birds can play their version of "bobbing for larvae" :-) LSA
Twas a good weekend working around the house and garden. I wanted to get a post in before my muscles freeze up compeltely. Got the fourth 4 x 8 ft garden bed in. This was significant because I haven't had decent weather on a weekend in ages. As it was I painted my cinder blocks in the garage because it rained all day yesterday. Big'ol got a nifty garden cart for me to help truck them down to the back yard. We're not able to get a vehicle down there now that the fence is in. Yes there's a gate, but the topography of the yard doesn't allow it to open wide enough.
Anyhoo. It's a cute little garden cart. Reminds me very much of a children's wagon. Four wheels. A handle. Very handy for putting things in. Only it's green - thank goodness. Big'ol's motives were entirely selfish because he didn't want to have to carry cinder blocks down to the garden. ;P
The sun finally came out this afternoon and I was able to get it done. I have one more bed to make - a long narrow one for trellis crops. Peas, beets, and turnips are up. Radishes are about ready. Lettuce is coming along fine. I'm most pleased about my chives. I started with two wittle seeds three years ago and now I have two biiiiig clumps that are about to burst into dozens of purple 'blooms'. Its a nice way to start a spring, I think.
Sounds lovely!
Sigh. Yet another weekend spent on homework. And I'm wondering if I have strep throat or just a really nasty sore throat. It's been three days now... maybe I should get it checked out tomorrow.
Howdy, I was about to have to put a placemarker on the thread 'cause I've been talkin' too much elsewhere.
I set out maters and cucumbers yesterday, along with some basil and marigolds in the spaces round the cinderblock on one of the 4x4 beds. More to come.
I bought the plants at Lowes yesterday a.m. and finally just went ahead and put them out in the rain.'
Off in a few. Luke has swim team clinic.
That is a scary picture.
It's really cool lookin'. From a distance...
And it's turning the wrong direction... ;~D
Heh... that thing about water spinning the other way in the Southern Hemisphere is a myth...
Here's Katrina
*shudder*
Have I mentioned lately how ~happy~ I am about moving? ;-)
There's no reasonin' with hurricane season...
I'm gonna watch The Phantom of the Opera with Becky now. We managed to pack up 11 boxes worth of stuff today. I'll try to get them to the Post Office tomorrow if the lines aren't too long.
