The Hobbit Hole XXIX - Until the stars are all alight...

Posted on 04/20/2006 2:10:46 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Until the stars are all alight

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I really thought that your climate would be more conducive to decomposition rather than mummification. hmm or else it was buried in an anaerobic environment, that might produce similar appearance. hmm.

Fascinating. (insert Spock gif here)

The plumber guy found a mummified duck under The House once...no clue how the duck got in there.

If it will heal. The lower fracture is evidently in pieces, he'll have surgery to reconstruct it, too early to tell if it will ultimately work.

The difficulty with horses is there is really very little blood flow to the lower leg, it's all bone and tendon, very little muscle. So injuries there are slower to heal than we would be, and they HAVE to move for there to be proper circulation. Stall them for long periods and they have major complications to not just this leg, but all their legs. So it'll be a challenging recovery regardless. The key will be to get it stabilized to the point where he can be put to pasture to move.

We're only really guessing that it came from under the house, and we're only really guessing Cisco found it, because he's the only one that could fit under there that would have pulled it out. And he was here, and disappeared around the corner a few times where he might have been under there.

You want to know what I immediately thought it was before I looked close? I looked over to where Zulu was buried.

Empress did that ones with a rotisary chicken in a bag like that. Killed a perfectly good microwave.

He was definitely under the house at some point - he musta banged his head or something 'cause there was a loud *thump*.

But the possum is just bizarre.

EEEEK!!

I'm so very happy that the "discovery" was made after I'd gone.

The mystery is how it became mummified down there.

Look what [we think] Cisco found under the house! :~o

and you didn't notice any odors... right...

it's funny... cuz every interview with theneighbors of heinous murderers always say, "they were so normal...", "we're so surprised.." while in the background, sheet-covered bodies are being carried outta the crawlspace...

so what/who else yuh got stashed under there?...

I can neither confirm nor deny the presence of the aforementioned person on my premises...

that and the "I refuse to answer on the grounds that it might incriminate me" have saved me a lotta trouble...
