The Hobbit Hole XXIX - Until the stars are all alight...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 04/20/2006 2:10:46 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Until the stars are all alight

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Heh...Nana makes her own ice tea with sugar. We use Sweet 'n Low. (It was a compromise, I can't stand sugar in tea).

She'd been with us a few weeks and told us "we're out of sugar."

First time we'd had to buy sugar in about five years...

I have these nice looking storage tins on my counter for flour, sugar, tea, salt, gunpowder, all that kinda of stuff. They are all empty though :P
The only thing I put in my tea is honey.

Honey doesn't work well in iced tea. ;-)

"Sweet Tea" (with gobs of sugar) is a southern' thang. But I gave it up after college and now I can't stand it.

When I spent the summer in Arizona/New Mexico, I did get into sun tea made with sugar.

2. His thoughts tumbled in his head, making and breaking alliances like underpants in a dryer without Cling Free.

Some are quite ingenious, and some a stolen from FR taglines, which were, in turn, stolen from someone else.

When Mama used to come up to visit, she'd make iced tea, and she'd put a cup of sugar in a half a gallon of tea. The most I'd ever put was 1/2 cup. When she'd leave, the kids would beg me to make 'Mimi tea' cause they LOVED it so sweet. ACK! It makes my teeth hurt just thinking about it. I stopped making iced tea a while back. We just drink water for the most part now.

'Round about the Raleigh area there are pockets that have less than gobs of sugar.

Well, there is actually one more house we're scheduled to see today.

If it's a no-go, which it prolly will be, we'll stop by the property management office for the house we've already picked and sign the papers.

See ya soon!

When I lived in Georgia and asked for 'unsweet' tea they would look at me like I asked for moldy bread. And it usually tasted nasty since they did not seem to know how to make ice-tea without massive amounts of sugar.

I'm pretty sure I'd let you know if you were doing things wrong. Also I am pretty sure I fall under the "special weird cases, figure it out yourself" section. ;-)

I gotta tell you something funny. Leastwise it was funny to me.

You know how at the beginning of the year, when the split came in my homeschool group...did I tell you what the mantra was? C and the other leaders would always say "We've bathed this in prayer." The whole situation was bathed in prayer so I guess they thought that made it not wrong any more.

So yesterday, C and I were sitting outside the church where Matthew takes latin and this couple comes staggering out of the woods right by the playground where the little kids were playing, get in separate cars and drive off! Well, any reasonable person knew what they were doing back there behind the playground but C says "Let's not think bad thoughts about them..."

Well it was all I could do not to roll my eyes (and I may have), but I did start laughing because I wanted to say "C, why don't you bathe them in prayer and then what they're doing isn't wrong anymore...that's how it works, isn't it?"

I didn't say it, but it was all I could do.

I'm hoping you posted that to me as a "isn't this weird" thing and not as a "I hope you don't need to be bathed in praer" thing ;-)

Just kidding, that's amusing.
