The Hobbit Hole XXIX - Until the stars are all alight...

Posted on 04/20/2006 2:10:46 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Until the stars are all alight

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I had missed the earlier post of yours. :~D

Rain dreams :~D

Where are you going to church these days? Here in town, or the one up by your brother?

Having a lightweight in the group is what makes drinking games fun :~D

The one in Lacey. Don't really like it, but it's something. I'll probably work up to making it to my brother's once a month or so.

I still want to go to the Westside chapel one of these weekends. It only has one service on Sundays, which I've missed...but eventually.

The one Bob and Kay go to? or a different one?

Yeah...St. Michael's in Olympia also has a little chapel on the Westside - they have their own music program and all, so it's a little different than the main church. I'd like to check it out.

OK, off to get churched up. Leaving Cisco in on account of the rain.

Hopefully Cisco will behave just fine inside - least for short trips. :~D

It would be nice to have options for service times like that... back from getting churched up myself. Last time I'll be there. I think there'll probably be a lot of last times this week.

Yeah...he's good for four hours or so, I think. And I rarely go out longer than that.

It's vey wet out there. I'm thinking today would be a better go-to-Value-Village day than a work-in-the-garden day. Still could use some work clothes.

On the plus side, the grass that needed rain is loving this. On the downside, the grass that needed mowing is going to get even longer.

Yes... Therein lies the rub :~D

Definately not a gardening day. My flowers I bought are going unplanted today.

Is your mower good and covered? I just remembered you lost your tarpage last week. If you need to, you can park it over in the barn here until you get a better cover back up.

I *think* it's well covered, but I'll check it as soon as I finish breakfast. Thanks for the storage offer! If it's getting wet, I'll take you up on it.

OK :~D Your mower's probably pretty hardy, it doesn't have any electronics anyhow... the biggest danger in is getting wet is probably water in the gas. Nevertheless, good for it to stay dry.

Looks dry, in any case.

Gonna head to *town* to look for blouses and such. Cisco's got a Kong filled with some peanut butter in the far reaches and some food...should keep him busy for a bit, and then hopefully he'll just sleep.

Um, it's covered in half-packed boxes. Heh. My organizational skills are not very strong today.

I know, I'm pathetic. Not even my stories are interesting today.

Waiting for pans to dry so I can pack those boxes, so I can start working on the "random stuff" boxes.

We had a spectacular light show last night with the thunderstorm. I hear there is going to be another one tonight!

Sounds like it's good you DIDN'T go camping!

We had gorgeous weather with the exception of just a couple of sprinkles on Sat. afternoon when the girls were canoeing. It was sunny and not to hot on Fri afternoon when we arrived, and this morning when we left. It was even on Sat. morning, up until just before the canoeing began. Then it was cloudy the rest of the day, and got chillier because of the wind, but both nights were very pleasant for sleeping.
